Job Overview

Astellas, a global pharmaceutical leader, is hiring a Regulatory Affairs Vendor Oversight & Relationship Partner to join its Global Capability Center (GCC) in Bengaluru, India. This strategic role focuses on end-to-end oversight, governance, and performance management of Regulatory Affairs (RA) vendors, with additional support to Pharmacovigilance (PV) vendors as required.

The position plays a critical role in ensuring outsourced regulatory and safety activities are executed efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with corporate, R&D, and global regulatory standards. This is an excellent opportunity for senior professionals experienced in vendor management, regulatory affairs, and cross-functional global collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Vendor Oversight & Governance

  • Oversee execution of outsourced RA and PV activities in line with governance frameworks, contracts, and relationship manuals.

  • Ensure vendors meet agreed KPIs and SLAs, regulatory obligations, and internal quality standards.

  • Drive continuous process, efficiency, and productivity improvements in collaboration with vendor managers and SMEs.

  • Lead or contribute to vendor governance and relationship meetings, ensuring structured oversight and escalation.

Business Continuity & Risk Management

  • Ensure vendor business continuity and back-up plans are in place, tested, and aligned with functional BCPs.

  • Proactively identify, assess, and escalate risks impacting RA/PV outsourced activities.

Process Improvement & Transformation

  • Identify and manage change initiatives to enhance vendor-delivered regulatory and safety processes.

  • Contribute to RA/PV technology, digital transformation, and automation initiatives impacting vendors.

Vendor Selection, Transition & Contract Management

  • Support vendor selection, onboarding, transitions, and offboarding in line with R&D and RA outsourcing strategies.

  • Collaborate with Procurement, Global Contract Office (GCO), Vendor Oversight colleagues, and SMEs to ensure accurate and timely contracting.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Support vendor-related financial planning, workload forecasting, budgeting, and cost analysis.

  • Assist with vendor invoice review and approval, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.

Quality, Compliance & Inspections

  • Partner with QA and vendor managers to support audits and inspections; represent the company during Health Authority inspections as required.

  • Ensure deviations, SCARs, and CAPAs are documented in eQMS and closed within timelines.

  • Escalate vendor non-compliance impacting business-critical activities through governance channels.

Training & Capability Development

  • Coordinate with learning teams to ensure required training and compliance documentation for vendor staff.

  • Oversee PV awareness and role-based training execution and records.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Life Sciences or a related discipline.

  • Experience Required: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in vendor management within Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Development, or related functions.

  • Proven experience in vendor contract development, negotiation, and lifecycle management.

  • Strong working knowledge of Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, and data privacy regulations and guidelines.

  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, cost analysis, invoicing, and financial forecasting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and operate effectively in a global, cross-cultural environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management experience.

  • Advanced MS Word and Excel skills, including costing and financial models.

  • Knowledge of contract compliance requirements specific to RA and PV operations.
