Role Overview

As a Supervisor – Coding, you will lead a team of medical coding professionals, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and performance excellence. You will be responsible for team management, process optimization, client communication, and quality assurance within assigned projects.


Key Responsibilities

Operational & Performance Management

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding, billing requirements, and regulatory changes.

  • Drive performance metrics (KPIs) including productivity, quality, turnaround time (TAT), attendance, and attrition.

  • Utilize logical data analysis for quick issue resolution.

  • Oversee overall personnel performance and discipline across assigned projects.

  • Prepare and manage annual business plans including budgets and staffing plans.

  • Evaluate operational practices and workflows for efficiency improvements.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide direction, coaching, and mentoring to team members.

  • Conduct 1-on-1 coaching sessions and provide performance feedback regularly.

  • Build employee engagement and retention strategies to minimize attrition.

  • Identify training needs in coordination with SMEs, Auditors, and Trainers.

  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and high morale.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and clients.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all client communications.

  • Review and analyze periodic reports, metrics, and performance dashboards.

  • Ensure compliance with client requirements and audit standards.

  • Participate actively in quality initiatives and process improvement projects.

Compliance & Governance

  • Support internal audits and ensure all compliance parameters are met.

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, employment contracts, and operational directives.

  • Adapt to changes in work location, shifts, or policies as per business needs.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate or Postgraduate in Life Sciences, Allied Medicine, or Healthcare disciplines such as:

    • BHMS, BAMS, BPT, BDS, B.Pharm, Nursing, etc.

Certifications

  • Certified Coder (any one):

    • AAPC: CPC / CPC-H

    • AHIMA: CCS / CCS-P

Experience

  • 10+ years of overall medical coding experience.

  • 3+ years of leadership experience (Team Lead / Supervisor role).

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.

  • Proficient in healthcare reimbursement methodologies.

  • Familiarity with organizational workflows and operating procedures.

  • Ability to identify and correct coding errors through education and coaching.

  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving and data interpretation skills.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.

  • Strong focus on employee engagement and customer satisfaction.

  • Ability to resolve conflicts, manage attrition, and motivate teams.
