About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Supervisor – Medical Coding to lead coding operations, drive process excellence, and manage high-performing teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency across assigned medical coding projects.

You will be responsible for overseeing team performance, managing stakeholder relationships, ensuring coding quality compliance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals.


Key Responsibilities

Post-Training Responsibilities Include:

Operational Leadership

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical coding, billing regulations, and industry compliance requirements.

  • Manage daily operations, personnel, performance, and disciplinary actions for assigned projects.

  • Lead team supervision with focus on productivity, quality, turnaround time, attendance, and attrition.

  • Provide expertise and leadership in the assigned functional area and ensure alignment with organizational standards.

Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Build and manage relationships with internal teams and external clients.

  • Front-end client communication and ensure consistent, professional interactions.

  • Review and analyze operational reports, performance metrics, and project insights.

Process & Quality Management

  • Support quality initiatives and contribute to process improvements.

  • Lead internal audit activities and ensure compliance parameters are consistently met.

  • Evaluate operational practices and recommend improvements for efficiency and accuracy.

Team Development

  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and development support to team members.

  • Conduct one-on-one coaching and identify training needs in coordination with SMEs, auditors, and trainers.

  • Implement retention strategies and manage workforce stability.

Business & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual business plans and operating budgets.

  • Resolve conflicts, negotiate solutions, and manage critical operational situations.

  • Comply with organizational policies, contractual conditions, and directives related to work arrangements and processes.


Experience Required

  • Minimum 10 years of medical coding experience, with at least 3 years in a team lead or supervisory role.

  • Proven experience managing high-volume coding operations in a healthcare delivery or revenue cycle management environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage performance, and meet project KPIs.

  • Strong exposure to healthcare reimbursement methodologies and operational workflows.


Qualifications

  • Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Life Sciences, Allied Health, Pharmacy, Nursing, or related medical disciplines (BHMS, BAMS, BPT, Dental, Pharmacist, etc.).

  • Certified coder with credentials from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CPC-H, CCS-P).

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.

  • Excellent analytical skills, communication skills, and stakeholder management capabilities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced in healthcare systems and workflow operations.

  • Ability to monitor day-to-day operations, track attendance, and deliver coaching to improve performance.

  • Experience working with SMEs, auditors, and training teams for skill development and capability building.
