Client Partner – Medical Coding (Denial)

Job Summary

The Client Partner – Medical Coding (Denial) role focuses on delivering high-quality coding, auditing, and denial management services while acting as a key liaison between clients and internal teams. The position requires strong expertise in ICD-10, CPT coding systems, and healthcare revenue cycle processes, with a focus on minimizing revenue leakage and improving compliance, accuracy, and turnaround time (TAT).

Key Responsibilities

Medical Coding & Auditing

  • Perform coding and auditing of outpatient and/or inpatient medical records.

  • Assign accurate ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes based on medical documentation.

  • Ensure coding accuracy with a minimum of 96% compliance.

  • Adhere to defined turnaround time (TAT) and productivity benchmarks.

Denial Management & Revenue Optimization

  • Analyze denied claims and identify root causes of coding-related issues.

  • Work on initiatives to reduce revenue leakage and improve reimbursement outcomes.

  • Support corrective coding actions to resolve claim denials.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects in denial management.

Quality & Compliance

  • Maintain high professional and ethical standards in coding practices.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and payer guidelines.

  • Participate in internal audits and compliance activities.

  • Continuously improve coding accuracy and documentation quality.

Client Engagement & Partnership

  • Act as a client-facing partner for coding and denial-related activities.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding coding performance and issues.

  • Support client requirements by aligning deliverables to KPIs and expectations.

  • Provide insights to improve client revenue cycle performance.

Learning & Development

  • Stay updated with changes in coding guidelines and regulatory updates.

  • Participate in coding team meetings, training sessions, and conferences.

  • Continuously improve coding knowledge and specialty expertise.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 1 to 8 years of experience in medical coding.

  • Exposure to outpatient and/or inpatient coding environments preferred.

  • Experience in denial management is an advantage.

Certification

  • Mandatory certification from AAPC or AHIMA:

    • CPC / CPC-H / COC / CCS / CIC or equivalent.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • ICD-10 coding system

    • CPT-4 coding

    • HCPCS coding

    • ICD-9 (preferred exposure)

  • Understanding of billing systems, regulatory guidelines, and auditing principles.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards.

Salary Criteria

Expected Salary: ₹4–9 LPA for candidates with 1–5 years of coding/denial experience and AAPC/AHIMA certification; professionals with strong inpatient/outpatient audit experience, 96%+ accuracy consistency, and client-facing exposure may earn ₹9–11+ LPA depending on specialty depth and performance metrics.
