Role Overview

The Strategic Initiatives Project Manager plays a critical role in leading enterprise-level initiatives that deliver measurable business value across Syneos Health. This position manages complex, cross-functional projects including post-merger integrations, strategic partnerships, and large-scale business transformation programs.

The role requires strong project governance expertise, financial and risk management capability, and the ability to align execution with enterprise strategy while driving accountability and sustainable outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Project Leadership

  • Lead matrixed, cross-functional project teams, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability aligned with established governance frameworks.

  • Develop, maintain, and govern project charters, integrated project plans, resource plans, risk and issue logs, and financial forecasts.

  • Manage scope, timelines, costs, and quality to ensure successful delivery of strategic objectives and business value.

Governance, Risk & Financial Management

  • Monitor project progress against milestones, KPIs, and deliverables, ensuring transparency and timely execution.

  • Identify, assess, and escalate risks and issues using structured decision-making and mitigation methodologies.

  • Validate financial forecasts and manage reconciliation of project resources and expenditures.

Stakeholder & Change Management

  • Drive change management and business readiness activities to support adoption and long-term sustainment of new processes, systems, or organisational structures.

  • Prepare and deliver regular project status reports to executive sponsors, steering committees, and senior stakeholders.

  • Chair project meetings to review progress, address challenges, and recognise team achievements.

Continuous Improvement & Strategic Alignment

  • Represent assigned initiatives in governance forums and inter-departmental meetings, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy.

  • Support operational efficiency through process mapping and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to the ongoing development of project management methodologies and best practices.


Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Business, Management, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.

  • Equivalent education combined with relevant professional experience will be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management, including delivery of enterprise or strategic initiatives.

  • Proven experience managing cross-functional teams within a matrixed organisational environment.

  • Experience supporting business transformation, M&A integration, or strategic partnership initiatives is strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and governance models.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior and executive leaders.

  • Demonstrated ability to coach, influence, and motivate teams to deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic environment.

  • High level of adaptability, initiative, and problem-solving capability.

  • Proficiency with project and timeline management tools; openness to adopting new technologies.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport and corporate credit card.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally, up to 25%, based on business requirements.
