About the Role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Senior Programmer Analyst to support our global Pharmacovigilance (PV) Safety database (Oracle Argus) operations. As part of our leading Contract Research Organization (CRO), you will be responsible for system configuration, reporting, data migration, and validation activities, ensuring compliance with SOPs, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

This role offers an opportunity to work in a highly collaborative, global environment supporting clinical research services that drive the development of life-changing therapies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for day-to-day configuration and maintenance of the PV Safety database.

  • Collaborate with PV business users to understand requirements and recommend solutions.

  • Develop and validate custom and aggregate safety reports using Oracle Argus tools, OBIEE, or SQL.

  • Troubleshoot end-user queries and provide technical support for the Safety database.

  • Support routine dictionary upgrades and liaise with vendors for system enhancements and issue resolution.

  • Assist with SOP development, internal audits, and external regulatory inspections of the PV Safety database.

  • Manage database changes under PPD change control policy, including configuration changes, system upgrades, and tenant creation.

  • Configure distribution rules and lead data migration and validation projects, including creation of Data Migration Plans, Design Specifications, and Summary Reports.

  • Provide programming support to project teams and clients for safety data review and ad-hoc reporting.

  • Lead project initiatives, ensuring outcomes are delivered on time, within scope, and at high quality.

  • Recommend process improvements and assist in estimating effort for project bids.

  • Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on technical and project-related tasks.


Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in programming, system administration, or database management within clinical research or pharmacovigilance.

  • Strong experience with Oracle Argus PV database configuration, administration, and safety data management.

  • Proficient in SQL programming and working with relational databases.

  • Demonstrable experience in safety data migration and report generation.

  • Knowledge of PV processes, regulatory compliance, and database transformation rules.

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to lead initiatives, mentor junior staff, and manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in global clinical trial support and safety database reporting.

  • Familiarity with OBIEE reporting tools or other business intelligence platforms.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in handling complex datasets.
