Role Overview:

The Senior Manager, Data Science & Analytics is responsible for driving data-driven insights to support commercial strategy, brand planning, and operational effectiveness within Pfizer’s Oncology Commercial Analytics team. This role involves advanced data analysis, model implementation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure data is leveraged effectively for business-critical decisions. The Senior Manager will manage various data assets, including claims, sales, and specialty pharmacy data, to inform and guide the strategic direction of the oncology franchise.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Analysis and Insights Generation:

  • Advanced Analytics: Develop and implement advanced analytics models using techniques such as machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical analytics to derive insights into customer behavior, market trends, and product performance.
  • Secondary Data Analysis: Leverage external data sources (e.g., claims data, specialty pharmacy data, non-retail sales) to generate actionable insights addressing key business questions.

Data Management and Governance:

  • Data Asset Management: Collaborate with Commercial Information Management and data governance teams to ensure proper stewardship of data assets and the integration of new data to enhance decision-making.
  • Data Quality & Consistency: Ensure the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of data used for analysis by working closely with IT, Marketing, and cross-functional teams.
  • Data Sourcing: Work with the Director of Oncology Data Enablement to assess and identify relevant commercial data sources for analytics projects.

Targeting and Segmentation:

  • Customer Segmentation: Apply advanced data science techniques to create customer segmentation strategies that optimize marketing and sales team targeting and resource allocation.
  • Engagement Optimization: Analyze customer behavior and market data to develop insights that improve engagement strategies.

Brand Performance and Market Insights:

  • National-Level Reporting: Develop and maintain national-level brand performance reports, providing insights into market trends, competitive dynamics, and product performance.
  • Launch Support: Provide analytical support for product launches, including market analysis, competitive intelligence, and performance tracking.
  • Operational & Market Effectiveness: Analyze data to inform operational and market effectiveness, supporting optimization of marketing and sales operations.
  • Reporting & Dashboards: Create and manage executive-level reports and dashboards, effectively communicating key performance indicators (KPIs), market trends, and insights to decision-makers.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Marketing, Market Research Insights, Forecasting, Finance, and other teams to integrate data insights into broader strategic initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present complex analytical insights to senior leadership, translating data into actionable recommendations that drive business decisions.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to improve data analytics methodologies, processes, and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Emerging Trends: Stay updated on industry trends and new data science techniques, integrating innovative approaches into data analysis.

Vendor and Resource Management:

  • Vendor Collaboration: Manage relationships with external vendors and data providers, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality data and insights.
  • Budget and Resource Allocation: Work with Data Science & Analytics leadership to manage budgets and allocate resources effectively.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in data science, analytics, mathematics, biological or physical sciences, statistics, business, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7+ years in data science, analytics, or commercial operations, with at least 5+ years in the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry. Post-graduate education may substitute for part of the work experience requirement.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, R, SQL, and data visualization platforms like Tableau and Power BI.
  • Cross-Functional Experience: Proven ability to work with marketing, sales, IT, and other teams to integrate data insights into commercial strategies.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to influence peers, mentor others, and guide teams to achieve meaningful business outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oncology Expertise: Experience in oncology, with a strong understanding of market dynamics, customer behavior, and competitive trends.
  • Advanced Technical Skills: Experience with machine learning and predictive modeling techniques is highly desirable.
  • Advanced Degree: MBA or related advanced degree preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $120,800.00 to $201,400.00 annually
  • Bonus: Eligible for Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary.
