Role Overview:
As a Senior Manager in Data Sciences, you will play a strategic and hands-on leadership role in building and managing advanced AI and ML platforms. You will oversee a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers to deliver scalable, compliant, and business-impacting analytics and AI solutions across research, clinical, manufacturing, and commercial domains.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and drive a multi-year data science strategy aligned with business objectives, including quarterly OKRs.
Lead and mentor a high-performing team of data scientists and ML engineers.
Oversee end-to-end ML/AI project delivery—from problem scoping to model deployment and monitoring.
Balance and prioritize initiatives based on ROI, risk, and resourcing, across cross-functional domains.
Guide algorithm selection, experimentation, and implementation using robust, reproducible methodologies.
Enforce best practices in coding, version control, MLOps, model governance, and responsible AI.
Collaborate with stakeholders across Data Engineering, DevOps, Security, and Product to embed models in production systems.
Manage analytics environments (cloud/on-prem), negotiate vendor contracts, and optimize performance and cost.
Communicate insights and AI value to executive leadership with clarity and impact.
Stay current with AI trends, regulatory changes, and emerging tools; lead innovation pilots to maintain technological leadership.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
10+ years in advanced analytics/data science, with 4+ years leading data science or ML teams.
Deep expertise in ML algorithms including regression, classification, clustering, time-series forecasting, deep learning (CNNs, transformers), and causal inference.
Strong coding skills in Python and SQL; hands-on with MLOps tools (MLflow, Kubeflow, SageMaker, Vertex AI, Azure ML).
Strategic influence with experience delivering business impact and communicating with VP/SVP-level leaders.
Practical experience in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) including performance tuning and cost management.
Sound knowledge of responsible AI practices, privacy, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, GxP, EU AI Act).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in pharma or biotechnology industries.
Conference speaker or published author in AI/GenAI.
Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related technical field.
Familiarity with Agile or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
GenAI/ML certifications (AWS AI, Azure AI, Google Cloud ML, etc.).
Soft Skills:
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Effective communicator with strong presentation skills.
Team-oriented and collaborative in global, virtual environments.
High initiative, detail-oriented, and self-driven.
Ability to manage multiple complex priorities effectively.
