Role Overview:

The Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing and accurately coding patient charts and diagnosis reports according to project specifications. The role involves ensuring adherence to client requirements, achieving productivity targets, and maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures.


Key Responsibilities:

Coding and Auditing:

  • Code or audit patient charts and diagnosis reports as per client requirements.
  • Apply client instructions and updates during production.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of coding in compliance with regulatory standards.

Reporting and Updates:

  • Update and clear production and pending reports promptly.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate status and productivity reports.
  • Review and act on client communication or email updates related to coding tasks.

Collaboration and Escalation:

  • Work closely with the Team Leader to ensure smooth workflow and address challenges.
  • Identify and escalate issues to the immediate supervisor for resolution.

Compliance and Productivity:

  • Strictly adhere to company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Meet daily and monthly productivity targets set by clients.

Qualifications & Skills:

Experience:

  • 6 months to 3 years of medical coding experience.

Skills:

  • Sound knowledge of medical coding concepts, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Strong understanding of client requirements and project specifications.
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and maintain high productivity.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

Education:

  • Diploma, Certificate, or Degree in a relevant field (Life Sciences, Paramedical, or Medical preferred).
  • Relevant certifications like CPC, CCA, or CCS are advantageous.
