Role Overview

Optum, a global leader in healthcare innovation, is seeking a Senior Behavioral Intake Coordinator to support its growing Behavioral Health division in Bangalore. This role is designed for experienced mental health professionals who can deliver high-quality telephonic and virtual counselling, conduct clinical assessments, and ensure best-in-class emotional and psychological support for clients across diverse populations.

This position plays a pivotal role in strengthening mental well-being, supporting early intervention, and ensuring timely and empathetic behavioral health support within a global care ecosystem.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support & Counselling

  • Deliver solution-focused telephonic and virtual counselling sessions to individuals across varied demographic groups.

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and intervene based on clinical judgment and client needs.

  • Provide ongoing clinical support, monitor client progress, and adjust intervention plans accordingly.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant case documentation in alignment with internal clinical and regulatory standards.

  • Safeguard confidentiality and adhere to all ethical and legal requirements.

  • Stay updated on relevant regulatory and legislative changes impacting behavioral health services.

Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and associated professionals using strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Participate in required training, upskilling programs, and continuous professional development.

  • Actively contribute to team initiatives, meetings, and collaborative case discussions.

  • Demonstrate initiative and take on additional responsibilities when needed.

Operational Expectations

  • Adhere to organizational policies, shift requirements, location flexibility, and operational directives based on business needs.

  • Maintain professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and high emotional resilience in a challenging behavioral health environment.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology.

Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in counselling, therapy, or related behavioral health services.

  • Experience providing telephonic or video-based counselling.

  • Fluency in English; multilingual capabilities are an added advantage.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) is highly desirable.
