Parexel Early Phase Clinical Unit plays a critical role in developing innovative new medicines that enhance public health, improve outcomes, and save lives.
The Baltimore, MD Unit focuses on early-phase and “first-in-human” clinical trials — the essential first step in testing novel treatments.

As an Entry-Level Research Associate, you will support the smooth execution of Phase I trials while gaining valuable exposure to clinical research operations.
This role serves as an excellent foundation for future positions such as Enrollment Specialist, Clinical Research Coordinator, or Clinical Manager.


Position Summary

The Research Associate (Per Diem) performs essential clinical and administrative tasks to support the execution of clinical trials.
You will interact with study participants, assist physicians and clinical staff, manage study documentation, and ensure compliance with clinical research guidelines.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Study Support

  • Understand study protocols and conduct required medical procedures.

  • Conduct screening visits and study participant assessments per protocol.

  • Assist physicians in reviewing adverse events, concomitant medications, lab results, and test outcomes.

  • Prepare and monitor study supplies, ensuring adequate stock in the clinic/hospital.

  • Maintain and apply up-to-date knowledge of Clinical Operating Guidelines (COGs).

Participant Recruitment & Engagement

  • Recruit study participants through:

    • Database calls

    • Community outreach events

    • Posting flyers in schools, senior centers, and supermarkets

  • Enter participant data into tracking systems and logs.

  • Maintain appointment calendars and operate study information systems.

  • Promote a safe and supportive experience for study participants and caregivers.

Data & Quality Compliance

  • Ensure quality and accuracy in source documents and Case Report Forms (CRFs).

  • Comply with Quality Management (QM) guidelines and promptly complete corrections requested by QM, CRC, or Sponsor Representatives.

  • Support monitor visits (e.g., room setup, documentation readiness).


Your Profile

Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in a related Life Science field OR

    • High School Diploma / GED with relevant experience.

  • Preferred Certification: CPT / Phlebotomy Certification highly desirable.

Experience & Skills

  • Prior customer service experience in a fast-paced or medical environment.

  • Background in a clinical or healthcare setting preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail, multitasking ability, and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable with prolonged periods of standing and walking.

  • Proficiency in basic computer systems and data entry applications.


Work Schedule

Training Period

  • Duration: 4–6 weeks

  • Hours: 30–40 hours per week

  • Shift: Day (6:50 AM – 3:20 PM)

After Training

  • Minimum Availability:

    • At least 16 hours per week, and

    • 2 weekend shifts (12 hours each) in a 4-week month OR

    • 3 weekend shifts (12 hours each) in a 5-week month.

  • Shift Types: Flexible (Day, Evening, Overnight, and Weekend).

  • Hours per week: 0–40 hours (depending on business needs; hours not guaranteed).

  • Additional Training: Bi-monthly sessions may be required (depending on mandatory training schedule).


Compensation & Benefits

💰 Base Pay Range: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour
(Exact pay determined by education, experience, and location.)
