Job Overview

AstraZeneca is seeking a highly motivated Regional Medical Advisor (CVRM) to join its Medical Affairs team in Bangalore. This is a field-based medical role responsible for executing the Medical Affairs strategy for pre-launch and/or newly launched products within the Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM) therapeutic area.

The role focuses on high-quality scientific engagement, evidence generation, and strategic partnerships with healthcare professionals (HCPs), Key External Experts (KEEs), and broader healthcare ecosystem stakeholders. The Regional Medical Advisor plays a critical role in shaping clinical practice, improving patient outcomes, and supporting the safe and effective use of AstraZeneca medicines.


Key Responsibilities

Medical Strategy & Scientific Expertise

  • Execute the CVRM Medical Affairs Plan in alignment with global and local medical strategies

  • Maintain in-depth scientific and clinical expertise in disease management, AstraZeneca products, emerging therapies, and the competitive landscape

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Field Medical Strategic Plan (FMSP)

  • Act as a scientific subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders

  • Support training and mentoring initiatives within the therapeutic area


Scientific Exchange & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions with HCPs, KEEs, and other healthcare ecosystem stakeholders

  • Deliver balanced, evidence-based scientific information in response to unsolicited medical inquiries

  • Organize and lead scientific meetings, advisory boards, symposia, MSL events, and non-promotional educational programs

  • Deliver scientific presentations aligned with the field medical communication strategy

  • Collaborate with KEEs on evidence generation initiatives such as Investigator-Sponsored Research (ISR), local studies, and publications


Insights Generation & Strategic Partnerships

  • Gather, analyze, and communicate medical and scientific insights to inform medical, product, and clinical development strategies

  • Identify gaps in patient pathways and healthcare delivery to support strategic, scalable, and sustainable solutions

  • Build and maintain strategic, peer-level relationships with traditional and non-traditional stakeholders including policymakers, patient advocacy groups, government bodies, and innovation partners

  • Identify and support clinical investigators across pre-clinical, clinical, and post-marketing research activities


Governance, Compliance & Innovation

  • Ensure compliance with AstraZeneca Global Field Medical Standards, local regulations, and internal SOPs

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of pharmacovigilance, GxP, GCP, and adverse event reporting requirements

  • Uphold ethical engagement standards and support training on ethical and compliant scientific interactions

  • Leverage digital tools, innovation, and technology to enhance scientific exchange and patient-centric solutions


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in a scientific discipline (Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related field) – required

  • Doctoral degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) – preferred


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3–6 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Medical Advisor, MSL, or related roles within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry

  • Proven experience in CVRM or a closely related therapeutic area is strongly preferred

  • Experience in scientific engagement with KEEs, clinical research, or evidence generation activities

  • Solid understanding of the regulatory, compliance, and pharmacovigilance environment
