Role Overview

Sun Pharma is seeking an experienced Medical Advisor to serve as a core scientific leader within a cross-functional franchise team. This role is responsible for providing strategic medical and scientific direction across the product lifecycle, supporting business clusters through evidence-based insights, regulatory support, medical education, and key stakeholder engagement.

The Medical Advisor will act as a trusted scientific expert for internal teams and external stakeholders, contributing to disease area leadership, product strategy, and real-world evidence generation.


Key Responsibilities

Medical and Scientific Leadership

  • Act as a disease area expert and core scientific member of the cross-functional franchise team, supporting scientific enablement of the assigned business cluster.

  • Provide therapeutic rationale and medical strategy support for regulatory submissions, new drug approvals, and lifecycle management activities.

  • Prepare and defend Subject Expert Committee (SEC) presentations and support regulatory interactions.

Product Strategy and Lifecycle Management

  • Lead medical input for new product ideation and evaluation through comprehensive desk research and KOL interactions.

  • Support pre-launch and launch activities, including development of product monographs, training manuals, medical training modules, and CME content.

  • Conduct robust medical evaluation of new products and special projects aligned with franchise strategy.

Medical Affairs and Education

  • Plan and execute franchise medical education programs, advisory board meetings, and scientific exchange initiatives.

  • Review and approve promotional and non-promotional materials in compliance with internal approval processes and regulatory timelines.

  • Design and deliver scientific training programs for marketing and sales teams to ensure dissemination of current medical knowledge.

Stakeholder Engagement and Insights

  • Engage with identified Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in a peer-to-peer capacity to shape disease areas of interest and generate actionable insights.

  • Translate insights on disease trends and treatment patterns into evidence-based medical plans, education programs, and research initiatives.

  • Respond to complex scientific and medical queries from healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders.

Evidence Generation and Publications

  • Plan and support real-world clinical research, investigator-initiated studies, and publication activities.

  • Collaborate with thought leaders on therapy-specific reviews, meta-analyses, case studies, case series, and patient-reported outcomes for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Compliance and Representation

  • Ensure all medical and promotional activities comply with Indian regulatory requirements, including MCI Code of Ethics, UCPMP guidelines, and Drugs and Cosmetics Act provisions.

  • Represent the organization at internal and external scientific platforms, conferences, and professional forums.


Education and Experience Requirements

Education:

  • MD in Pharmacology (mandatory)

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or research organization in a Medical Advisor or Senior Medical Advisor role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training in medical writing, clinical trial methodologies, research design, and ICH-GCP guidelines.

  • Strong academic background with in-depth knowledge of therapeutic areas and clinical research methodologies.
