Role Overview
The Senior Medical Advisor (GI & Orthopedics) will serve as a core scientific leader within the cross-functional franchise team, acting as a disease-area expert responsible for strategic medical enablement. This role requires strong scientific acumen, regulatory understanding, KOL engagement expertise, and the ability to translate clinical insights into impactful medical strategies.
The position plays a pivotal role in shaping therapeutic area strategy, supporting regulatory submissions, driving medical education initiatives, and enhancing evidence generation across Gastroenterology and Orthopedics portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Medical Leadership
Act as a core scientific member of the franchise team and therapeutic area expert
Develop insight-driven medical plans aligned with franchise strategy
Identify knowledge gaps, practice gaps, and data gaps to design impactful education and evidence-generation initiatives
Translate disease trends and treatment insights into actionable medical strategies
Product & Regulatory Support
Lead new product ideation and evaluation
Provide therapeutic rationale and scientific support for regulatory submissions
Prepare SEC presentations and represent the company during SEC meetings
Conduct robust medical evaluation of new products through desk research and KOL interactions
Pre-Launch & Launch Excellence
Develop product monographs, training manuals, and CME materials
Support pre-launch and launch activities through scientific content development
Conduct marketing and sales training programs
Devise structured training plans to ensure dissemination of latest medical developments
Medical Governance & Compliance
Review and approve promotional and non-promotional materials within stipulated timelines
Ensure compliance with Indian healthcare regulations including:
MCI Code of Ethics
UCPMP Guidelines
Drugs & Cosmetics Act (Clinical Trials & New Drug Approvals)
Process and respond to scientific information requests from healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders
KOL & Scientific Engagement
Engage Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in peer-to-peer scientific discussions
Organize and participate in advisory board meetings
Represent the organization on internal and external scientific platforms
Collaborate with thought leaders for therapy-specific reviews, meta-analyses, case studies, case series, and patient-reported outcome publications
Research & Evidence Generation
Plan and execute Real-World Evidence (RWE) studies
Support clinical research initiatives and publications in reputed journals
Provide scientific interpretation of complex medical data
Handle advanced clinical and therapeutic queries from healthcare professionals
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong academic background with deep therapeutic area knowledge (GI & Orthopedics)
Expertise in research methodologies, medical writing, and clinical trial design
Working knowledge of ICH-GCP guidelines
Proven ability to function in complex business environments
Strategic mindset with strong analytical and communication skills
Demonstrated success through performance achievements or professional recognition
Training in medical writing, clinical trial methodologies, and research design will be an added advantage.
