Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager – Regional Medical Affairs (RMA) to lead and strengthen the Regional Medical Affairs function within the Business Unit. This leadership role is responsible for driving medical strategy execution, talent development, medico-marketing alignment, compliance oversight, and scientific excellence across the region.

The Senior Manager, RMA will oversee field-based Regional Medical Advisors (RMAs), ensuring consistent delivery of scientific engagement, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional integration with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Sales, and Pharmacovigilance teams.

This role is ideal for senior medical affairs professionals with strong leadership capabilities, therapeutic expertise, and experience managing field-based scientific teams.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of Regional Medical Advisors (RMAs) within the Business Unit.

  • Build and develop a high-performing, cohesive RMA team focused on scientific excellence and compliance.

  • Drive performance management through objective setting, execution tracking, and continuous feedback.

  • Develop and deliver structured training programs to strengthen medical and scientific capabilities.

  • Ensure consistent scientific knowledge and therapeutic expertise across the RMA team.

  • Drive talent development, succession planning, and cross-functional mobility initiatives.

  • Ensure timely reporting of complaints, adverse drug reactions (ADR), and adverse events (AE) to the Pharmacovigilance team.

Cross-Functional and Strategic Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective integration of the RMA team with Medical Affairs, Medico-Marketing, and Marketing teams.

  • Align medical strategies with commercial objectives while maintaining strict regulatory compliance.

  • Oversee field-based medico-marketing initiatives such as advisory boards, scientific booths, and educational programs.

  • Partner with Sales Leadership to ensure compliant alignment of field activities with therapeutic goals.

  • Identify and resolve therapeutic area operational challenges and implement best practices.

  • Ensure internal stakeholders are informed about Key Opinion Leader (KOL) insights and evolving disease state perspectives.

  • Lead development and execution of brand-on-brand clinical strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Compliance and Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure adherence to local regulatory agency guidelines and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Maintain oversight of field-based medical/scientific compliance within the Business Unit.

  • Support inspection readiness and regulatory audit processes.

Strategic and External Engagement

  • Attend scientific congresses and medical meetings to remain current on therapeutic advancements.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals.

  • Provide regular strategic updates during Medical Affairs Internal Management and Business Review Meetings.

  • Coordinate medical support for both in-line and pipeline products.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Advanced degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or related field (MD, PharmD, or equivalent preferred).

  • Minimum 8–12+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, or Pharmaceutical Medical Operations.

  • At least 3–5+ years of experience managing field-based medical teams or regional functions.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, pharmacovigilance reporting, and compliance standards in India.

  • Proven experience working cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, and Commercial teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead medico-marketing strategy execution while maintaining scientific integrity.

  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.

Preferred Competencies

          Experience managing therapeutic portfolios across multiple product lines.

  • Strong exposure to KOL engagement and advisory board management.

  • Demonstrated success in talent development and team building within Medical Affairs.

  • Familiarity with Indian regulatory frameworks and compliance policies.
