Job Summary
The Medical Advisor serves as a core scientific member of cross-functional franchise teams, acting as a disease area expert and providing scientific leadership across the product lifecycle. This role involves medical strategy development, evidence generation, clinical research oversight, and scientific enablement of the business cluster to support regulatory submissions, marketing, and educational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Strategy & Scientific Support
Provide therapeutic expertise for franchise teams, advising on disease areas, treatment patterns, and product positioning
Support new product ideation, evaluation, and launch, including preparation of monographs, training manuals, and CME materials
Contribute to regulatory submissions, including scientific rationale and SEC presentation preparation
Review and approve promotional and non-promotional materials, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards
KOL Engagement & Insights Generation
Identify, interact, and engage Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in a peer-to-peer capacity
Translate insights on disease trends and treatment patterns into actionable medical plans and training programs
Conduct advisory board meetings, therapy-specific reviews, meta-analyses, case studies, and publish findings in reputable journals
Medical Education & Training
Develop and execute franchise medical education programs for internal teams, including marketing and sales
Provide ongoing scientific updates to ensure teams are equipped with the latest developments in the therapeutic area
Clinical Research & Evidence Generation
Plan, oversee, and execute real-world clinical research and publication strategies
Conduct thorough medical evaluation of new products, integrating desk research and KOL feedback
Respond to complex scientific inquiries from healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders
Compliance & Regulatory Alignment
Ensure all medical and promotional activities comply with Indian regulations, including the MCI Code of Ethics, UCPMP Code for Pharma, and Drugs and Cosmetics Act
Maintain high standards of documentation, quality, and ethical practices in all medical affairs activities
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education:
MD in Pharmacology
Experience:
Minimum 3+ years in the pharmaceutical industry or research organizations as a Medical Advisor or Senior Medical Advisor
Demonstrated expertise in therapeutic area management, clinical research, and medical strategy
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of clinical trial methodologies, medical writing, and ICH-GCP guidelines
Proven ability to analyze and interpret medical data, and translate scientific insights into actionable plans
Excellent strategic, analytical, and communication skills, capable of influencing specialists in peer-to-peer interactions
Experience in complex business environments and cross-functional collaboration
Preferred:
Training in clinical trial design, medical writing, and research methodologies
Prior experience in regulatory submissions and KOL engagement
