About the Role

The Senior Medical Advisor plays a critical leadership role in providing medical and scientific expertise across assigned therapeutic areas, with a primary focus on Cardiology. This position oversees Medical Affairs activities in India and works in close collaboration with Regional and Global Medical Affairs teams to ensure scientific excellence, regulatory compliance, and patient safety.

The role acts as a strategic medical partner to Business Units, supporting Marketing, Sales, Pharmacovigilance, Medical Information, Regulatory Affairs, and Clinical Research teams. The Senior Medical Advisor ensures that all medical activities, promotional materials, and clinical initiatives comply with global SOPs, local regulations, and the highest ethical standards.


Key Responsibilities

Medical Affairs & Strategic Leadership

  • Provide end-to-end medical and scientific support to Business Units, Pharmacovigilance, Medical Information, and Clinical Research teams

  • Lead Medical Affairs activities in assigned therapeutic and product areas in India

  • Collaborate closely with Regional and Global Medical Affairs to align local strategy with global objectives

  • Serve as a key medical advisor to R&D leadership and business stakeholders

Medical Marketing & Compliance

  • Conduct timely and compliant medical review and approval of all promotional materials

  • Monitor and scientifically challenge competitor promotional activities where appropriate

  • Translate clinical and scientific data into actionable medical insights to support brand and marketing strategies

  • Ensure full compliance with country-specific Codes of Conduct and global SOPs

Training & Scientific Engagement

  • Deliver internal training to marketing and sales teams on products, disease areas, and development projects

  • Support external scientific education through advisory boards, launch symposia, congresses, and scientific meetings

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Thought Leaders (TLs), medical experts, societies, and associations

Clinical Research & Evidence Generation

  • Lead and oversee local study development programs including NIS, IIR, and real-world evidence studies

  • Act as local medical expert for Global Clinical Development, including site feasibility and trial support

  • Ensure inspection readiness, study quality, and regulatory compliance across all medical research activities

Pharmacovigilance & Patient Safety

  • Support local safety issue and crisis management in collaboration with headquarters

  • Ensure adherence to Pharmacovigilance principles across patient support programs and medical initiatives

  • Maintain oversight of safety-related activities to mitigate risks and uphold patient safety standards

Regulatory & External Representation

  • Represent the organization in external regulatory and scientific meetings

  • Respond accurately and transparently to medical and scientific queries from healthcare professionals, regulators, and external stakeholders


Qualifications & Experience

Essential Requirements

  • MBBS and MD (Cardiology or relevant specialty) from a recognized medical university

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Medical Advisor within the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in Cardiology

  • Strong disease area expertise and deep scientific knowledge in assigned therapeutic areas

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in driving and executing medical strategy for a cardiovascular portfolio

  • Clinical trial management experience with the ability to engage confidently with investigators and key stakeholders

  • Experience supporting new product registrations and lifecycle management
