Role Overview

The Regional Medical Advisor (CVRM) will serve as a field-based scientific expert in cardiovascular and renal therapeutic areas, responsible for executing the Medical Affairs Plan for pre-launch and newly launched products. This role involves shaping clinical practice, engaging healthcare professionals (HCPs), key external experts (KEEs), and non-traditional stakeholders, and providing scientific guidance to internal teams to improve patient care.

You will act as a catalyst for knowledge exchange, delivering strategic, scalable, and sustainable medical solutions that influence clinical decision-making and patient outcomes across your region.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific Expertise & Medical Strategy:

  • Maintain deep knowledge of cardiovascular and renal disease management, AstraZeneca products, emerging therapies, and competitor landscape.

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Field Medical Strategic Plan (FMSP) for your therapeutic area.

  • Act as a subject matter expert for internal stakeholders and external healthcare professionals.

  • Provide training and mentoring within the therapeutic area.

Scientific Exchange & Engagement:

  • Conduct peer-to-peer dialogues with key healthcare professionals, delivering balanced, evidence-based scientific information.

  • Respond to unsolicited inquiries, provide medically accurate guidance, and deliver presentations aligned with field medical strategies.

  • Organize and facilitate scientific events such as advisory boards, symposiums, and “Meet the Professor” sessions.

  • Support publication planning and investigator-initiated studies (ESR or local studies).

Customer Insight & Strategy:

  • Collect, analyze, and synthesize insights from HCPs and other stakeholders to inform medical and product strategies.

  • Identify gaps in patient care and integrate insights into strategic planning.

  • Build long-term, trust-based relationships with traditional and non-traditional stakeholders, including policy makers, patient advocacy groups (PAGs), and government bodies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with Medical, Commercial, Regulatory, and Compliance teams to implement medical strategies.

  • Support data generation initiatives and investigator-sponsored studies.

  • Leverage digital tools and innovative technologies to enhance scientific exchange and patient-centric solutions.

  • Ensure adherence to pharmacovigilance, GxP, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, including adverse event reporting.


Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Master’s or higher degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or a related scientific discipline.

  • 5–10 years of experience in Medical Affairs, clinical research, or related pharmaceutical roles.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong presentation capabilities.

  • Proven ability to engage effectively with HCPs, KEEs, and internal stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking, project management, and organizational skills.

Desirable:

  • Doctoral degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) in a relevant discipline.

  • Experience with cardiovascular and renal therapeutic areas.

  • Exposure to clinical trials, preclinical research, or medical strategy development.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, ethical interactions policies, and pharmacovigilance processes.
