Public Affairs Senior Specialist – Virology Therapeutic Area Communication

Position Overview

Gilead Sciences is seeking a Public Affairs Senior Specialist to support strategic communication initiatives across the Virology Therapeutic Area, with a focus on HIV and liver diseases. This role is responsible for content creation, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration with internal and external partners to advance communication objectives and strengthen visibility within the healthcare and community ecosystems.

This is a key position for professionals who excel in public relations, healthcare communication, and cross-functional coordination.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and execution of communication initiatives for HIV and liver disease therapeutic areas, ensuring alignment with core communication strategies.

  • Develop high-quality communication content tailored to key stakeholders. Manage the complete content lifecycle, including topic identification, content development, internal review, and approval.

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with community organizations; co-design and implement joint programs that support disease awareness and communication goals.

  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Business Conduct, Legal, and other internal teams to ensure message consistency across all channels.

  • Manage external agencies and vendors when required to ensure timely and high-quality project deliverables.

  • Support the delivery of communication plans across social media and digital platforms, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and impact.


Qualifications and Experience Required

Professional Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in public relations or communication roles.

  • At least 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry is required.

  • Strong content creation skills, with a deep understanding of social media platforms and digital communication mechanisms.

  • Demonstrated creative thinking, strong communication abilities, and effective project coordination skills.

Personal Attributes

  • Strong sense of responsibility, professionalism, and self-discipline.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments and within diverse teams.

  • Solid English proficiency, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
