Position Summary

SOVAH Danville is seeking a full-time Pharmacist to coordinate and provide pharmaceutical care for patients. You will interpret physician prescriptions and medication orders, act as a drug information resource to medical staff, nursing staff, and ancillary departments, and ensure the safe, effective, and economical use of medications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage drug therapy protocols as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Review, interpret, and evaluate medication orders to prevent and resolve drug-related issues.
  • Provide education on medication therapy and procedures to healthcare staff, patients, and pharmacy students.
  • Document interventions and their outcomes for quality improvement efforts.
  • Ensure accurate medication order evaluations, accuracy checks after filling, and oversee the use of pharmacy automation systems.
  • Retrieve, analyze, and interpret scientific literature to provide accurate drug information.
  • Monitor and evaluate pharmacotherapy for safe and cost-effective patient care.
  • Apply clinical pharmacokinetic data to promote effective medication regimens.

Minimum Education

  • Graduate of a Program in Pharmacy required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master's or Doctor of Pharmacy preferred.

  • Strong critical thinking and decisive judgment skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to thrive in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, ensuring continuity of care.

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensure by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy required.
