Job Overview

A leading global healthcare services organization is hiring an experienced Patient Access Manager to lead regional patient access and reimbursement strategy in Sacramento, California. This role is responsible for driving the successful launch and execution of patient access initiatives across the assigned territory, ensuring optimal support for neuroscience therapies within complex reimbursement environments.

The Patient Access Manager will oversee a team of Patient Access Specialists, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, compliance standards, and commercial goals. This position is ideal for professionals with deep expertise in managed care, Medicare Part B reimbursement, specialty pharmacy channels, and healthcare market access operations.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead, manage, and coach Patient Access Specialists to meet and exceed defined business and access objectives.

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing talent within the field reimbursement team.

  • Establish performance benchmarks and drive accountability across the district.

Reimbursement Strategy and Market Access Execution

  • Direct field teams in delivering reimbursement education for neuroscience products.

  • Support benefits investigation, prior authorization, and medical benefit processes for administration and observation therapies.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in Medicare Part B and CMS reimbursement frameworks.

  • Ensure compliant use of patient healthcare information (PHI) in all field activities.

Compliance and Regulatory Oversight

  • Maintain strong knowledge of healthcare compliance, legal regulations, and corporate governance standards.

  • Ensure all field operations align with regulatory requirements and company policies.

  • Conduct continuous compliance training and reinforce ethical business practices.

Territory and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Foster collaborative relationships with providers, healthcare stakeholders, and internal commercial teams.

  • Communicate strategic priorities clearly across the district to maintain customer-focused execution.

  • Support product access initiatives during launch phases and lifecycle management.

Operational Excellence and Performance Monitoring

  • Analyze territory-level reimbursement trends and access barriers.

  • Implement corrective strategies to optimize patient access outcomes.

  • Provide field insights to senior leadership to enhance overall market access strategy.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Life Sciences, Business, or related discipline.

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in reimbursement, managed care sales, contract strategy, Medicare Part B/medical benefit, or pharmaceutical market access.

  • Proven experience within specialty pharmacy distribution channels.

  • Strong working knowledge of CMS policies and reimbursement processes.

  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.

  • Ability to travel overnight up to 75% within the assigned territory.

  • Must reside within or near the assigned territory boundaries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree such as MBA, MPH, PharmD, or related field.

  • 3+ years of leadership experience in field reimbursement or patient access management.

  • Experience within the CNS (Central Nervous System) therapeutic area.

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex payer and healthcare system environments.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual Base Salary Range: $175,000 – $185,000 (Compensation varies based on qualifications, experience, and competencies.)
