Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Dietitian to join our team. This role is responsible for performing the nutrition care process for patients, including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation. As a key member of the clinical nutrition team, you will work to identify and manage nutrition risks, collaborate with other healthcare providers, and provide medical nutrition therapy tailored to each patient's needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Nutrition Care Process: Perform nutrition assessments for patients, identifying nutrition risks and providing medical nutrition therapy. Develop and implement individualized nutrition plans of care based on age, medical status, and diagnosis.
  • Collaboration and Education: Work closely with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to discuss and develop nutrition plans, including nutrition support and education. Provide clear documentation of the care plan and the education delivered.
  • Teamwork: Contribute to the success of the department by attending meetings, supporting community events, and collaborating with other clinical nutrition team members, dietitians, and vendors.
  • Training and Guidance: Provide mentorship to dietetic interns, technicians, and other nutritionists, guiding them through assessments and the provision of nutrition care.
  • Discharge Planning: Facilitate smooth transitions of care by collaborating with external dietitians and vendors to ensure continuity of care upon patient discharge.
  • Professional Development: Maintain up-to-date knowledge by participating in continuing education and training to maintain licensure and certification.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
  • Licensure & Certification:
    • Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR).
    • Current licensure in the state of Maryland as a Dietitian/Nutritionist.
    • Completion of a Specialty Fellowship Program or Specialty Certification (e.g., CNSC, CDE, CSR, CSP, CSO, IBCLC) or achievement of an MS is required.
  • Experience:
    • At least 6 months of clinical experience as a Registered Dietitian.
    • Maintenance of 30 CEUs every 2 years is required.
