Job Overview

AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to support its Medical Affairs strategy in India. This role serves as a critical scientific bridge between AbbVie and the healthcare community, providing in-depth medical and scientific expertise across assigned therapeutic areas. The MSL will engage with key opinion leaders (KOLs), academic institutions, and healthcare professionals to support evidence-based discussions, research initiatives, and compliant scientific exchange.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as an internal medical, scientific, and technical expert supporting AbbVie’s Medical Affairs objectives at the affiliate level.

  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), academic centers, researchers, and healthcare professionals within assigned therapeutic areas.

  • Facilitate high-quality scientific exchange by presenting clinical and scientific data related to AbbVie products in a balanced, compliant, and non-promotional manner.

  • Collaborate closely with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Therapeutic Leads, and R&D teams to align on business planning, priorities, and field activities.

  • Support clinical research initiatives in collaboration with AbbVie R&D, Clinical Operations, and Medical Affairs functions.

  • Serve as a local medical representative for global medical functions, including Pharmacovigilance (PV), Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), and related areas.

  • Contribute to the development and review of disease-state education and product-related scientific materials, ensuring medical accuracy and regulatory compliance.

  • Support advisory boards, roundtable discussions, and scientific meetings to ensure accurate presentation of clinical data.

  • Deliver ongoing scientific and medical training to internal teams, including medical affairs and field-based colleagues.

  • Ensure accurate, timely documentation of medical activities and adherence to assigned budgets.

  • Conduct all activities in compliance with AbbVie’s internal policies, ethical standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.


Required Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • MD, MBBS, or PharmD from a recognized institution.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of post-qualification experience in a Medical Affairs or Medical Science Liaison role.

  • Prior experience within the pharmaceutical industry or clinical research environment is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional, matrix-based organizations.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of clinical practice and ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific data.

  • Proven ability to build, maintain, and influence strong professional relationships.

  • Excellent presentation, teaching, and scientific communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to evaluate and discuss clinical evidence.

  • High level of learning agility with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools supporting medical affairs activities.

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple stakeholders and priorities.
