Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Medical Coder / Senior Coder for Outpatient (OP) settings with strong expertise in ICD-10 (diagnosis) and CPT (procedure) coding. The ideal candidate will validate and assign codes accurately, ensuring compliance with government and insurance regulations. This role involves reviewing medical records, resolving coding discrepancies, and maintaining precise documentation.
This is an excellent opportunity for coders with active certifications (CPC / CPC-A / CIC / CCS / COC) to work in a dynamic healthcare environment and contribute to improving patient care and revenue cycle efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Assign ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT procedure codes accurately for outpatient encounters.
Review patient charts and documentation for completeness, accuracy, and coding compliance.
Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify unclear or insufficient documentation.
Research complex cases to ensure proper code assignment and sequencing.
Validate previous day’s batch of patient notes for evaluation and coding accuracy.
Maintain current knowledge of coding updates, guidelines, and compliance standards.
Support coding audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: Any graduate.
Experience: 3–7 years in medical coding in outpatient or clinical settings.
Certifications: Active CPC / CPC-A / CIC / CCS / COC credential from AAPC or AHIMA.
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
