Overview

IQVIA is a global leader in clinical research, commercial insights, and healthcare intelligence. We are committed to improving patient outcomes by creating intelligent connections between data, technology, and human expertise.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) with expertise in Oncology to join our East Region field team. The MSL will act as a scientific bridge between IQVIA, our client, and the broader medical community — facilitating medical education, supporting clinical research, and enabling compliant scientific exchange.

This is a field-based role ideal for individuals who thrive on scientific engagement, possess strong clinical acumen, and are passionate about advancing patient care through innovation and evidence-based medicine.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement

  • Serve as a field-based scientific expert, communicating accurate, balanced, and non-promotional information to healthcare professionals.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, investigators, and key opinion leaders (KOLs) across Oncology.

  • Deliver scientific presentations and discussions on therapeutic areas, disease states, and investigational products.

  • Provide medical insights and field intelligence on treatment landscapes, emerging therapies, and competitor activities.

Clinical Trial Support

  • Partner closely with Site Management and Monitoring teams to ensure successful initiation, conduct, and completion of clinical studies.

  • Identify and recommend potential clinical trial sites and investigators.

  • Support clinical study sites by providing compliant disease-area education and training on investigational products.

  • Engage with site staff to identify enrollment barriers and collaborate on medical solutions to enhance recruitment.

  • Facilitate communication between investigators, clinical operations, and medical affairs.

Scientific Strategy & Intelligence

  • Identify, categorize, and engage key opinion leaders (KOLs) and community-based investigators in the designated therapy area.

  • Gather and report actionable scientific insights to inform company strategy.

  • Support advisory boards, symposia, and congresses through preparation and scientific facilitation.

  • Participate in investigator-initiated study (IIS/IST) discussions and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Represent IQVIA and client partners at medical conferences and scientific booths, capturing key insights and opportunities.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as a scientific liaison with physicians, pharmacists, and research institutions in accordance with all relevant laws and codes.

  • Coach and develop scientific speakers, providing compliant training on approved clinical slide decks.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with medical, marketing, and clinical teams to share field intelligence and therapeutic insights.

  • Serve as a trusted scientific partner and ambassador of IQVIA and client organizations at all times.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Conduct all interactions in alignment with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, including company and client policies.

  • Ensure timely reporting of adverse events and completion of all required compliance training.

  • Maintain accurate records of field activities in CRM systems.

  • Complete all IQVIA mandatory e-learning and compliance certifications on time.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry (Oncology preferred).

  • Strong scientific foundation and understanding of clinical trial processes and therapeutic mechanisms.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.

  • Ability to translate complex scientific data into clear and engaging dialogue.

  • Strong project management, territory planning, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with CRM systems and digital reporting platforms.

  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a scientific or medical discipline (MD, PharmD, PhD, NP, or equivalent) strongly preferred.

  • Previous experience as a Medical Science Liaison or similar field-based medical role.

  • Deep understanding of Oncology or related therapeutic areas.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: $200,000 – $265,000 annually.

  • Actual compensation will vary based on education, experience, location, and other factors.

  • Eligible for incentive plans, performance bonuses, and a comprehensive range of health and welfare benefits.
