Overview

The Scientific Manager, COA Implementation role sits within IQVIA’s Patient Centered Solutions (PCS) team — an industry leader in integrating the patient voice into every stage of drug development and commercialization.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the high-quality implementation of Clinical Outcome Assessments (COA) and Patient Experience Data (PED) in clinical studies. As part of the PCS-Implementation (PCS-I) team, you’ll manage scientific and operational aspects of eCOA/ePRO implementation, leveraging behavioral science, clinical insights, and technology to enhance patient data quality and engagement.


About the PCS-Implementation Team

The PCS-I team focuses on collecting robust and reliable patient experience data (PED) across clinical research through enhanced eCOA services. These services include digital design, user acceptance testing (UAT), training, data monitoring, and analytical insights — all aimed at improving how the pharma industry interacts with patients.


Key Responsibilities

Project & Client Leadership

  • Manage and lead client projects focused on COA implementation within clinical studies, from project kick-off to close-out.

  • Ensure timely delivery of all project milestones, presentations, and deliverables.

  • Oversee project tracking, progress monitoring, and cross-functional coordination.

  • Collaborate with clinical study teams and external vendors to align on timelines, scope, and deliverables.

  • Apply established SOPs and quality processes to ensure scientific rigor and operational excellence.

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal teams and clients.

  • Support proposal development, client presentations, and business growth initiatives.

Scientific and Strategic Contributions

  • Provide scientific and methodological guidance on COA/eCOA/ePRO design and implementation.

  • Develop and refine best practices, frameworks, and lessons learned for future projects.

  • Contribute to thought leadership through publications, conference presentations, and industry collaborations.

  • Support the advancement of IQVIA’s approaches to PED collection, behavioral science integration, and eCOA innovation.

Team Development

  • Mentor and train junior staff in project management, COA methodology, and patient-centered research design.

  • Help shape PCS-I methodologies, strategy, and cross-team collaboration.

  • Contribute to internal operational initiatives to enhance service delivery and business growth.


Qualifications

Education

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in a relevant discipline such as:
    Biological Sciences, Public Health, Epidemiology, Psychology, Sociology, or Health Economics.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in scientific consulting, research, or eCOA delivery within pharma or healthcare.

  • Strong understanding of COA/PRO development, strategy, and implementation.

  • Experience with eCOA/ePRO platforms and clinical study integration preferred.

Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent organization and project management skills with a track record of on-time delivery.

  • Strong written and verbal communication, including:

    • Client presentations

    • Conference talks

    • Report writing

    • Workshop facilitation

  • Ability to rapidly grasp new scientific concepts and engage meaningfully with diverse client teams.

  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus.

  • Must have the legal right to work in the recruiting country.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Base Pay Range: $95,300 – $237,500

  • Actual pay will depend on education, experience, and location.

  • Eligible for bonuses, incentives, and/or stock options.

  • Includes access to healthcare, retirement, paid time off, and other benefits depending on role eligibility.
