Job Summary
Sun Pharma is seeking a Manager – Biotechnology to lead and oversee the downstream operations within the Biological Drug Substance Unit. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in large molecule recombinant protein and monoclonal antibody downstream processing, with proven experience in process development, scale-up, GMP production, and team leadership.
This role offers an opportunity to drive innovation, mentor junior scientists, and contribute to global biopharmaceutical development.
Key Responsibilities
Downstream Process Leadership: Establish, lead, and manage the downstream group, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery of developed purification processes and clinical batches.
Process Development & Scale-Up: Design, plan, and execute downstream process development for recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies. Apply scale-up principles and ensure reproducibility of GMP processes.
Technical Expertise: Operate and interpret data from chromatographic systems, TFF systems, and filtration processes. Analyze analytical and process data to optimize operations.
Documentation & Compliance: Prepare and review BMRs, SOPs, investigational protocols, and technical reports in line with regulatory and quality requirements.
Mentorship & Collaboration: Provide scientific guidance to junior scientists and associates. Foster knowledge sharing and skill development within the team.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance downstream efficiency, process robustness, and quality outcomes.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Educational Qualification:
M.Tech / M.Sc. / Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Biochemical Sciences
Experience:
12–15 years of relevant experience in downstream processing, recombinant protein purification, and monoclonal antibody production
Proven experience in process scale-up, GMP production, and cross-functional collaboration
Strong expertise in chromatography, filtration, TFF systems, and data interpretation
Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide scientific teams
