Role Overview
The Manager – Scientific Communications is a strategic content leadership role within the Global Medical Organization. This position is responsible for developing high-impact scientific, publication, and medical content aligned to designated therapeutic areas and product strategies.
The role partners with global and US Medical teams to execute tactical scientific communication plans, ensuring alignment with medical strategy, regulatory standards, and evolving digital engagement approaches.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific & Medical Content Development
Develop and deliver high-quality scientific and medical content including slide decks, digital scientific engagement materials, FAQs, Medical Information Letters, and MSL resources.
Draft manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations for global scientific congresses and peer-reviewed journals.
Address complex Medical Information queries and escalations with scientific accuracy.
Create value-focused content supporting payer engagement and compendia submissions.
Strategic Publications & Medical Communications
Execute comprehensive scientific communication plans aligned with product lifecycle strategy.
Ensure compliance with publication standards such as ICMJE and Good Publication Practice (GPP) guidelines.
Interpret and critically analyze clinical data to support medical positioning and cross-functional communication.
Operational & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Manage content workflows, approvals, and documentation within enterprise systems.
Partner with Scientific Communications Operations teams to standardize processes and enhance digital innovation.
Track KPIs and optimize scientific engagement through data-driven approaches.
Collaborate effectively across Global, US, and Regional Medical Affairs teams.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure adherence to enterprise SOPs and global regulatory standards governing medical communications.
Maintain high standards of scientific integrity, transparency, and data accuracy.
Required Experience
Experience requirements vary based on educational qualification:
Doctorate Degree (PhD/MD/PharmD/DO): 7+ years of relevant Medical Affairs or Scientific Communications experience
Master’s Degree or MBBS: 10+ years of relevant Global Publications, Medical Communications, Medical Information, Medical Value & Access, or Medical Strategy experience
Bachelor’s Degree: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
Associate Degree: Minimum 15 years of relevant experience
Candidates should have demonstrated experience within the biopharmaceutical or healthcare industry, preferably in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or Scientific Publications.
Core Functional Expertise
Strong experience in medical and publications content development
Deep understanding of pharmaceutical commercialization processes
Knowledge of global regulatory and legal frameworks affecting prescription product communication
Experience implementing ICMJE and GPP guidelines
Ability to analyze clinical trial data and scientific literature for strategic communication
Preferred Technical Skills
Knowledge of emerging technologies in scientific communications, including AI-enabled content tools
Familiarity with omnichannel engagement strategies
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and scientific databases
