Amgen is hiring an Expert Manager – Scientific Communications in Hyderabad, India to join its Global Medical Affairs Scientific Communications team. This role focuses on developing high-quality scientific publications, medical content, and strategic communication materials for global healthcare professionals, payers, and scientific communities.
The position involves creating manuscripts, abstracts, congress presentations, digital scientific engagement materials, and medical information responses aligned with therapeutic areas such as Oncology, Inflammation, General Medicine, Rare Disease, and Obesity. Candidates with experience in medical writing, publication strategy, medical affairs communications, and compliance with publication standards such as ICMJE and GPP guidelines will be highly preferred.

Approximate Salary Range: ₹32 LPA – ₹48 LPA (Estimated for Senior/Expert Medical Communications Manager roles in the pharmaceutical industry in India)
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver high-quality scientific and medical content including:
Digital scientific engagement materials (DSE)
Medical Science Liaison (MSL) materials
FAQs and Medical Information Letters
Draft scientific publications including:
Manuscripts
Abstracts
Posters
Oral congress presentations
Enhanced digital content
Support scientific congress submissions and journal publications
Address complex medical information inquiries and escalations
Develop content supporting payer engagement and compendia submissions
Execute tactical Scientific Communication plans for US and global regions
Manage content workflows, approvals, and documentation across internal systems
Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulations, SOPs, and external guidelines
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, and Publication Strategy teams
Track performance metrics and KPIs to optimize scientific communication impact
Coach internal teams to improve content quality, scientific accuracy, and communication standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
Advanced scientific degree such as MD, PharmD, PhD, MBBS, or Master’s in Life Sciences or related field
7–12+ years of experience in Scientific Communications, Medical Writing, Publications, or Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
Strong experience developing scientific publications and medical education materials
Knowledge of publication ethics and guidelines including ICMJE and Good Publication Practice (GPP)
Understanding of pharmaceutical product lifecycle and commercialization processes
Experience analyzing clinical trial data and scientific literature
Ability to translate complex clinical data into clear, scientifically accurate communications
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills in global matrix organizations
Preferred Technical Skills
Familiarity with digital scientific engagement platforms and omnichannel medical communications
Experience using AI tools for medical content development and workflow optimization
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and scientific documentation systems
Knowledge of global therapeutic area landscapes such as Oncology, Inflammation, Rare Diseases, and Obesity
