Medical Science Liaison (MSL)

Primary Purpose

The MSL serves as a scientific and medical liaison between Bayer and the medical community, engaging with Thought Leaders (TLs) and Medical Societies to disseminate scientific, educational, and research-related information, support advisory boards, and facilitate scientific education activities.


Key Responsibilities

Primary Activities

1. Exchange and Dissemination of Scientific Information

  • Plan, prepare, and engage with TLs (Doctors) proactively and reactively

  • Disseminate, clarify, and educate on scientific data, study protocols, meeting abstracts, and professional literature

  • Address unsolicited off-label questions in alignment with local regulations

2. Interactions with Medical Societies and Advisory Boards

  • Respond to scientific/medical queries from Medical Societies regarding Bayer products

  • Organize, support, and participate in advisory boards

3. Participation in Congresses and Conventions

  • Attend congresses and conventions to interact with TLs

  • Establish new professional contacts and gather competitive intelligence

4. Coordination of Scientific Education Activities

  • Plan and organize scientific training and education events/sessions with TLs

  • Focus on specific therapeutic areas or products

5. TL Identification, Profiling, Segmentation, and Engagement Planning

  • Contribute to internal understanding of TL interests and expertise

  • Align engagement strategy with the product Medical Affairs plan

6. Reporting and Activity Tracking

  • Submit timely reports and track activities against agreed objectives


Secondary Activities

  • Provide external scientific support, training, and education not covered by primary activities


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Qualification in natural sciences or medical background (MD, MBBS, BAMS, BDS, MDS)

  • Basic knowledge of the therapeutic area (Diabetology) and related molecules

  • Understanding of clinical trials, their design, and rationale

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills
