Role Overview

The Local Case Intake Team Manager will lead the local case intake process for Japan regulatory reporting. The role requires managing a team, ensuring high-quality and compliant processing of Individual Case Safety Reports (ICSRs), and maintaining regulatory compliance with AstraZeneca standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the local case intake team, providing guidance, training, and performance management.

  • Oversee intake, processing, and reporting of ICSRs in compliance with pharmacovigilance regulations.

  • Ensure timely and accurate case processing for all patient safety cases.

  • Monitor and analyze case intake metrics, prepare reports, and identify improvement areas.

  • Stay updated on local and global pharmacovigilance regulations and maintain SOPs.

  • Participate in audits and inspections, ensuring audit readiness.

  • Act as liaison between local and global teams for changes in pharmacovigilance operations.

  • Participate in ad-hoc global, regional, or local case handling projects.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree: Pharmacy, Medical, or Science

  • Experience: 2–5 years of team management in life sciences or pharmacovigilance

  • Life-science background

  • Languages:

    • Japanese proficiency (JLPT N2 or higher)

    • English proficiency (B1 Threshold, CEFR)

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines

  • Excellent leadership, team management, and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Strong attention to detail, priority management, and strategic influence abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication


Desirable Qualifications / Skills

  • Higher degree (MBA, PhD) in a relevant field

  • Thorough knowledge and experience in pharmacovigilance and regulatory developments

  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry pharmacovigilance operations
