Life Sciences Consulting – R&D | Consultant to Senior Manager

Designation: Consultant, Senior Consultant, Manager, Senior Manager

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Life Sciences Consulting professionals with strong domain expertise in Pharma R&D, Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Drug Development, and Digital Transformation. This role is ideal for individuals who can combine business consulting skills with deep industry knowledge and deliver strategic value to clients across the life sciences sector.

Candidates must bring proven experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Business Analysis

  • Agile Program or Product Roles

  • Project or Program Management

  • Management Consulting

Strong communication skills, the ability to lead client discussions, and experience contributing to thought leadership and RFPs are essential.


Key Skills and Domain Expertise

Pharma R&D Domain Knowledge (Mandatory)

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Drug Discovery

  • Pre-Clinical and Clinical Operations

  • Clinical Trials and Clinical Informatics

  • Pharmacovigilance and Safety Operations

  • Regulatory Affairs (RIMS, regulatory guidelines, submissions, business operations)


Business Analyst Responsibilities

  • Lead requirement-gathering sessions with clients and internal teams.

  • Translate business needs into detailed user requirement documents.

  • Create user stories and manage requirement changes effectively.

  • Use tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar platforms.

  • Conduct research, analyze documentation, and develop comprehensive business cases.

  • Apply modeling techniques including business process mapping, process flow diagrams, data flow modeling, and stakeholder analysis.


Agile Expertise

  • Familiarity with Agile project and product development methodologies.

  • Prior experience as Scrum Master, Product Owner, Product Manager, or RTE.

  • Agile certifications such as CSPO, CSM, SAFe are an advantage.


Project and Program Management

  • Ability to perform PMO functions to improve project and program outcomes.

  • Prior experience as a Business Project Manager or Program Manager.

  • PMP or similar certifications preferred.


Business Development and Strategy

  • Experience working on Go-To-Market strategies and business planning.

  • Contribution to RFIs, RFPs, service offerings, and strategic proposals.

  • Build and nurture strong client relationships across organizational levels.


Domain Consulting Expertise

  • Strategy Consulting

  • Organizational Change Management (OCM)

  • Digital Transformation

  • SOP Development

  • Market Assessment

Candidates specializing in BA, Agile, or PM must be willing to expand their skillset to match the broader consulting requirements of the Life Sciences domain.


Consulting Competencies

  • Ability to propose and implement innovative solutions.

  • Strong market understanding of the global life sciences ecosystem.

  • Knowledge of competitive landscape and major technology players.

  • Experience in delivering technology-led consulting engagements.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience with MS Visio and PowerPoint is an added advantage.

  • Contribution to thought leadership such as whitepapers, articles, infographics, and internal collaboration sessions.


Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate brings a blend of:

  • Technology and business consulting expertise

  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical R&D, clinical, and regulatory domains

  • Ability to use tools such as Personas, Journey Maps, and process frameworks

  • Prior experience in IT Consulting (preferred)

  • Capability to guide and manage other consultants in projects, research, and business development

  • Awareness of current trends, innovations, and digital opportunities in life sciences
