Job Title: Senior Scientific Advisor, Medical Communications

Location: Remote (US-based)
Travel: 10–20%


Job Summary

The Senior Scientific Advisor, Medical Communications, is responsible for developing and delivering high-quality scientific content aligned with client strategy and branding objectives. This role involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and cross-functional teams, to ensure scientific accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery of content.


Key Responsibilities

1. Development of Scientific Content

  • Author and support publications and presentations on product and disease-state information in line with client strategy.

  • Create and present content across various media formats to achieve client objectives.

  • Critically review technical and scientific reports from external sources for content development.

  • Ensure all content adheres to regulatory compliance by reviewing clinical and technical documents.

  • Identify and recommend scientifically sound, innovative solutions to meet clients’ critical business needs.

2. Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Directly interact with clients to ensure objectives are met.

  • Engage with internal scientists and external partners for collaborative input.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with KOLs relevant to assigned compounds and therapeutic areas.

  • Participate in meetings and negotiations with KOLs to align content strategy for products or disease states.

  • Support advisory boards, including development of materials, agendas, and facilitation of meetings.

  • Partner internally and externally to implement compliant strategies for communicating scientific, pipeline, or clinical insights.

  • Stay informed on industry trends and establish global best practices regarding system enhancements, usage, and training.

  • Provide scientific guidance on product strategy, disease narratives, study design, and clinical rationale within therapeutic areas.

  • Report project and client status, including resource needs, to the Head of Medical.

3. Collaboration with Client Services Team

  • Serve as liaison for content development between clients and Client Services.

  • Provide regular project updates to ensure adherence to timelines and inform clients of any potential changes or delays.

4. Collaboration with Marketing Team

  • Support Marketing in developing content-related pitch materials and proposals.

  • Contribute scientific knowledge and ideas for marketing strategy and proposal development.

  • Attend pitch meetings with Marketing and Client Services as needed.

  • Monitor the medical environment, including emerging products and client opportunities, and share findings internally.

  • Communicate scope changes in contracted work to Marketing as determined with the client.

5. Non-Essential Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a medical communications agency.

  • PhD preferred, or PharmD with a relevant concentration.

  • Experience in developing scientific platforms.

  • Strong therapeutic area knowledge relevant to assigned responsibilities.

  • Excellent knowledge of medical information resources and ability to extract key insights.

  • Strong team player with individual initiative and accountability.

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple projects effectively.

  • Solutions-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Willingness and ability to travel for client meetings, advisory boards, conferences, and presentations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Pay Range: $95,100 – $237,700 (annualized; may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, and schedule)

  • Incentives, bonuses, and additional compensation may be offered depending on the position.
