Background:
The Global Medical Affairs Organization Central Capabilities is expanding support for Healthcare Improvement Initiatives (HCIs) to improve patient outcomes by addressing Clinical Care Gaps (CCGs). HCIs utilize approaches such as Quality Improvement, Performance Improvement, Implementation Science, and Health Services Research to optimize care delivery and extend impact globally.

Purpose of the Job:
The Sr. Director, Healthcare Improvement Lead, will partner with Immunology business units (BU) to develop and execute global HCI strategies. The HCI Lead will oversee centralized execution of US and global initiatives and be part of the HCI Hub/Center of Excellence, ensuring adherence to compliance while driving impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop HCI strategy in alignment with brand strategic priorities.

  • Identify system-level root causes of CCGs and design data-driven, impactful HCI solutions.

  • Partner with the Innovation Readiness team to identify HCI opportunities in the clinical trial pipeline.

  • Ensure scalability, sustainability, and dissemination of HCI outcomes.

  • Communicate progress to Medical Affairs Leaders and other stakeholders.

  • Track environmental trends to leverage HCIs effectively.

  • Establish strong HCI measurements at system and patient levels.

  • Promote best practice sharing across the organization.

  • Manage budget and ensure regulatory compliance.

Organizational and External Influence:

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to meet healthcare system needs.

  • Develop creative HCI planning and execution approaches.

  • Engage with professional societies and external organizations to advance HCI strategies.

  • Represent Lilly professionally in interactions with healthcare institutions and government bodies.

  • Provide HCI coaching and training to affiliates.

Operational Excellence:

  • Support HCI compliance framework and quality assurance.

  • Contribute to HCI guidance, playbooks, and measurement reporting.

  • Support local execution of HCI initiatives globally.

Dimensions of Responsibilities:

  • Influence functional and cross-functional priorities.

  • Incorporate diverse stakeholder feedback for innovative solutions.

  • Align HCI initiatives with Accelerate Reach & Scale and Innovation Readiness goals.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 5+ years of experience with external stakeholders/customers.

  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare advocacy, administration, or partnerships with US and OUS healthcare systems.

Additional Preferences:

  • Compliance-driven environment experience.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Critical thinking and strategic implementation capabilities.

  • Self-directed and comfortable in ambiguous environments.

  • Experience in Quality Improvement/Implementation Science initiatives.

  • Familiarity with IHI models and approaches.

  • Cross-functional leadership experience.

  • Growth mindset.

  • Advanced degree preferred (healthcare professions, MBA, MPH).

  • Global experience with affiliates preferred.

Travel: Approximately 20%, including some weekends and international travel.

Compensation:

  • Salary Range: $150,000 - $220,000.
