Job Overview

AbbVie, a global biopharmaceutical leader, is seeking a Head – Allergan Medical Institute (AMI) to lead and execute the medical education strategy for Allergan Aesthetics in India. This senior leadership role is responsible for developing industry-leading medical education programs, advancing healthcare professional (HCP) engagement, and strengthening scientific excellence across aesthetic therapeutic areas.

The role requires close collaboration with Medical Affairs, Marketing, and Internal Scientific Managers (ISM) to deliver compliant, impactful, and strategically aligned education initiatives that support both clinical excellence and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Medical Education Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive medical education strategy across Allergan Aesthetics therapeutic areas.

  • Partner with ISM, Medical Affairs, and Marketing teams to define and execute AMI strategic goals and governance frameworks.

  • Lead the rollout of structured educational initiatives to enhance HCP knowledge, skills, and experience with Allergan products.

Scientific & Clinical Content Development

  • Create, adapt, and localize centrally approved scientific and clinical materials for in-country educational workshops.

  • Monitor evolving market trends, clinical practices, and competitor activities to continuously enhance training content.

Trainer Development & Faculty Management

  • Map and assess in-country trainer expertise to build a robust and sustainable faculty network.

  • Identify, onboard, and develop new trainers in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Design and maintain a trainer development curriculum supporting continuous upskilling, scientific advancement, and leadership growth.

Program Effectiveness & Performance Measurement

  • Establish and track key performance indicators to measure the impact and effectiveness of AMI programs.

  • Regularly review, benchmark, and refine AMI delivery models to maintain industry-leading standards.

  • Present program outcomes and insights to senior stakeholders.

Product & Competitive Knowledge

  • Maintain deep scientific and clinical expertise across current and future Allergan products.

  • Track competitor portfolios and pipelines to ensure strong scientific positioning and relevance.

Patient & Physician Initiatives

  • Provide medical oversight and scientific input for key patient and physician engagement programs.

  • Ensure all initiatives comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and approved scientific messaging.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Advanced degree in a science-based discipline (Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or related field preferred).

Experience

  • 10–15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or aesthetics industry, with significant exposure to medical education, training, or medical affairs leadership.

  • Proven ability to engage with senior clinicians and opinion leaders on complex scientific and clinical topics.

  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, external faculty, and large-scale education programs.
