Job Summary
Apotex is seeking a skilled professional for the role of Executive – Global Intellectual Property to support global patent strategy and intellectual property activities. The role focuses on patent validity searches, patentability assessments, portfolio management, and intellectual property support for product development initiatives.

The selected candidate will contribute to product in-licensing evaluations, patent landscape analysis, and IP risk assessment for APIs, finished dosage forms, biosimilars, and peptide molecules. This position involves close collaboration with internal Global Intellectual Property (GIP) teams, R&D scientists, and external patent agents to ensure effective documentation, patent filings, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct prior art searches to evaluate patent novelty and obviousness to support patent invalidation activities.

Perform comprehensive searches using multiple patent and scientific databases to identify relevant prior art and prepare detailed analytical reports.

Prepare patent landscape reports and summary reports for new molecules while updating Patent and Literature Review (PLR) reports for existing products.

Coordinate the filing of patent applications for R&D innovations, ensuring all deadlines are met and maintaining communication with patent offices, law firms, and external patent agents.

Maintain patent records and ensure timely renewal and documentation of intellectual property assets.

Prepare detailed evaluation reports for in-licensing opportunities involving APIs, finished dosage forms, biosimilars, and peptide molecules.

Conduct database searches across key global markets to identify relevant prior art and generate risk assessment reports to support product due diligence and market launch strategies.

Provide clearance reports for APIs, finished dosage forms, biosimilars, and peptide molecules developed internally or sourced from third-party manufacturers.

Perform in-depth analysis related to manufacturing processes, key starting materials (KSM), intermediates, polymorphs, impurities, composition, and formulation aspects.

Collaborate closely with R&D scientists and cross-functional teams to support intellectual property strategy and product development activities.

Maintain effective documentation management and communication with internal stakeholders and external patent agents.

Work collaboratively within the team to achieve departmental objectives while upholding corporate values including integrity, teamwork, courage, and innovation.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Global Intellectual Property team.

Required Skills and Competencies
Strong understanding of global patent systems and intellectual property procedures related to pharmaceuticals.

Familiarity with patent laws and regulatory frameworks in India, the United States, and Europe.

Experience conducting patent and literature searches related to APIs, pharmaceutical formulations, and biosimilar products.

Hands-on experience with intellectual property and scientific databases including Questel Orbit, SciFinder, STN, and other regional patent databases.

Strong analytical and report-writing skills with the ability to interpret complex patent data.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external legal partners.

Experience Required
Candidates should possess 4–6 years of professional experience in intellectual property management within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry. Experience in patent searches, patentability assessments, patent portfolio management, and intellectual property due diligence is essential.

Preference will be given to candidates who are registered patent agents with the Indian Patent Office or have formal training in patent law.
