Position Summary

As an EHS&S Specialist, you will support Baxter’s Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHS&S) programs within a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

You’ll work closely with the EHS Manager and site leadership to:

  • Drive safety, sustainability, and compliance initiatives.

  • Ensure a safe, healthful, and incident-free workplace.

  • Promote continuous improvement through hands-on involvement, communication, and collaboration.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support and advance EHS&S compliance and initiatives through transparent communication aligned with Baxter’s corporate policies and regulations.

  • Assist in the administration and implementation of EHS programs and procedures.

  • Execute elements of the EHS&S Management System (ISO 14001).

  • Conduct risk assessments, Gemba walks, and inspections to identify and correct hazards.

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Facilities teams to integrate EHS&S in new and ongoing operations.

  • Deliver specialized safety training (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space).

  • Participate in emergency response and preparedness activities.

  • Contribute to annual safety goals and KPIs (e.g., TRIR, energy reduction).

  • Conduct EHS audits, inspections, and follow-up on corrective actions.

  • Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and corrective/preventive actions.

  • Perform industrial hygiene monitoring (air, noise, etc.).

  • Manage Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and implement hazard control measures.

  • Lead essential programs including Lockout/Tagout and hazard communication.

  • Research and apply EHS&S best practices to maintain world-class safety standards.

  • Support data management, including CAPA tracking, waste documentation, and regulatory submissions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must not be allergic to penicillin or cephalosporin.

  • Education: B.S. degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, or related field (Required).

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in a manufacturing environment (Operations, Engineering, Quality, or EHS).

  • Strong knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.

  • Experience with EHS programs such as:

    • Confined Space

    • Lockout/Tagout

    • Fall Protection

    • PPE

    • Powered Industrial Trucks

    • Industrial Hygiene

    • Hazardous Waste Management

  • Experience with ISO 14001 preferred.

  • Working knowledge of medical products industry preferred.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and lead cross-functional teams.

  • Proficiency in data analysis, documentation, and reporting tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong computer literacy (MS Office and related tools).


Compensation

💰 Estimated Base Salary: $68,000 – $93,500 annually

  • Actual pay depends on location, experience, and expertise.

  • Eligible for discretionary bonuses.
