Your Role at Baxter:

The Senior Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) Manager will:

  • Develop, implement, and administer environmental, safety, and industrial hygiene programs and policies.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local EHS regulations.

  • Act as a primary liaison with regulatory agencies (EPA, OSHA, etc.).

  • Communicate and uphold Baxter’s Global EHS Policies across regional facilities.

  • Lead select and specialized EHS programs or initiatives as assigned.


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Develop, implement, and lead compliance for EHS&S programs (Environmental, Safety, Sustainability, Industrial Hygiene).

  • Evaluate and act upon new environmental and safety regulations.

  • Execute elements of the EHSS Management System (ISO 14001 & 45001).

  • Develop and maintain Goals, Targets, and KPIs for EHS programs.

  • Lead EHS Governance Teams (Emergency Response, Safety Committee, etc.).

  • Oversee operations and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant.

  • Ensure site compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

  • Collaborate across all organization levels to drive continuous improvement.

  • Investigate incidents and non-compliance events; implement mitigation actions.

  • Support management in developing and enforcing EHS&S policies.

  • Monitor environmental permitting requirements for operations and construction.

  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal contracts.

  • Supervise and guide EHS&S staff, including engineers, nurses, and operators.

  • Serve as primary contact for regulatory agencies (EPA, OSHA).

  • Participate in EHS assurance reviews at other Baxter sites.

  • Identify potential legal and compliance risks and recommend solutions.

  • Facilitate EHS training and development programs.

  • Partner with HR to promote Employee Wellness Initiatives.


What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Safety, or related field (required)

  • Master’s Degree in Environmental or Safety Engineering (preferred)

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a relevant EHS role

  • In-depth knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations

  • Professional certifications such as CHMM, CSP, or CIH (required)

  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills


Physical / Safety Requirements:

  • Must wear appropriate PPE (eye, head, foot, hearing protection)

  • Occasional use of a respirator may be required

  • Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates


Compensation:

  • Estimated Base Salary: $128,000 – $176,000 annually

  • Salary may vary based on skills, experience, and location

  • May be eligible for discretionary bonuses

  • Pay philosophy and benefits details available through recruiter
