Position Summary

The Senior Manager, EHS&S is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive environmental and safety programs across the Cleveland, MS site. This role provides strategic leadership in regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and sustainability performance, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local EHS standards.

The position also serves as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, oversees key site governance activities, and leads the development of long-term EHS strategies aligned with Baxter’s global standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance of Environmental, Health, Safety, Sustainability, and Industrial Hygiene programs.

  • Evaluate, interpret, and apply new environmental and safety regulations across site operations.

  • Execute components of the EHS&S Management System, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.

  • Establish and track site-level EHS goals, targets, and key performance indicators.

  • Lead governance teams such as the Emergency Response Team and Safety Committee.

  • Oversee operations and maintenance of the site wastewater treatment plant.

  • Manage environmental and safety compliance activities impacting operations or construction.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams at all organizational levels to drive continuous improvement.

  • Investigate safety and environmental incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.

  • Support the development and execution of site policies addressing EHS&S requirements.

  • Monitor environmental permitting processes for ongoing operations and facility changes.

  • Manage contracts for hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal.

  • Supervise EHS&S staff, including engineers, occupational health personnel, and wastewater operators.

  • Serve as the primary contact for EPA, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies.

  • Participate in EHS assurance reviews at other Baxter facilities.

  • Provide guidance on potential legal risks associated with environmental or safety compliance.

  • Lead site EHS training programs and develop written plans as required.

  • Partner with HR on employee wellness initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree in Environmental or Safety Engineering preferred.

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

  • Strong working knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.

  • Professional EHS certifications such as CHMM, CSP, or CIH required.

  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex compliance programs.

Physical and Safety Requirements

  • Ability to use personal protective equipment, including eye, head, foot, and hearing protection.

  • May require occasional use of a respirator depending on site needs.

Compensation

Estimated base salary range: USD 128,000 – 176,000 annually.
Actual compensation may vary based on experience, location, skills, and market conditions.
This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
