Position Overview

Hoxworth Blood Center, part of the University of Cincinnati, is seeking a Division Director of Clinical Research to lead its clinical research operations. This pivotal role will direct the strategic, operational, and financial aspects of the clinical research division, ensuring the continuous advancement of blood banking and transfusion medicine research. The Division Director will also supervise staff, manage budgets, and oversee the educational development of students within the department.


Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Research Strategy: Direct the development and implementation of clinical research strategies, ensuring high standards of blood banking and transfusion research.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Manage the division’s budget, establish pricing structures, and approve purchases to optimize resource allocation.
  • Staff Supervision: Oversee and mentor staff, including performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions, ensuring team efficiency.
  • Educational Contributions: Provide educational support to Medical Technology and Blood Banking graduate students during their rotations.
  • Collaboration and Committees: Actively participate in university, industry, and Hoxworth committees, fostering collaboration and innovative practices.
  • Policy Development and Compliance: Implement and oversee research policies and procedures to maintain high-quality standards and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (technical certifications such as CLS or SBB may be required for specialized roles).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant clinical research experience.
    • At least five (5) years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Primarily desk-based tasks, with some standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
