Role Overview:
Abbott Heart Failure (HF) is seeking a Director, Medical Affairs to lead medical strategy and operations for heart failure devices, including hemodynamic monitoring and mechanical circulatory support. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, this senior leadership role supports product development, clinical research, quality, compliance, commercial activities, and customer interactions.

The Director serves as a medical representative to regulatory agencies and professional societies, provides expert medical guidance internally and externally, and drives initiatives that ensure the safe and effective use of Abbott HF products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop medical opinions, platform documents, and Health Hazard Assessments.

  • Provide medical input for promotional, commercial, and regulatory activities.

  • Serve as medical representative on Risk Evaluation teams and clinical investigations.

  • Update and maintain medical affairs procedural documentation.

  • Support MDR reporting and quality/regulatory communications with medical input.

  • Engage with customers to provide medical guidance and support.

  • Manage Investigator-Initiated Study (IIS) and Research Grant programs regionally.

  • Contribute content to professional education initiatives and KOL engagement.

  • Provide medical expertise for new product development and off-label discussion documentation.

  • Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer to engage thought leaders and professional societies.

Required Qualifications:

  • MD strongly preferred; PhD in a relevant field may be considered.

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience, including cardiovascular medicine.

  • Experience in clinical research, interpretation of clinical data, and presentation of findings.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

  • Ability to work remotely with up to 70% travel as required.

Compensation:

  • Base salary range: $168,000 – $336,000 (location-dependent).
