The Opportunity – Abbott Heart Failure (HF)

Abbott HF develops medical devices for heart failure treatment, focusing on hemodynamic monitoring and mechanical circulatory support.

The Director of Medical Affairs will join a team of specialists dedicated to the safe and effective use of Abbott HF devices.
This role reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).


Key Responsibilities

Medical and Regulatory Support

  • Develop medical opinions, medical platform documents, and Health Hazard Assessments.

  • Provide medical input for promotional, commercial, and regulatory activities.

  • Serve as medical representative on Risk Evaluation Teams.

  • Support investigation teams and MDR (Medical Device Reporting) when required.

  • Update and revise medical affairs procedural documents as needed.

  • Contribute to quality/regulatory communications, technical bulletins, and directives.

Customer and External Engagement

  • Participate in direct customer interactions involving medical content.

  • Manage Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS) and Research Grant Programs regionally.

  • Provide input or develop professional education content.

  • Document and manage off-label discussions appropriately.

  • Support the CMO in Key Opinion Leader (KOL) and professional society engagement.

Product Development

  • Offer medical input during new product development and clinical strategy discussions.


Qualifications

Requirement

Details

Education

MD strongly preferred; PhD in relevant area may be considered

Experience

Minimum 5 years of clinical experience (preferably in Cardiovascular Medicine)

Skills

Strong presentation, interpretation, and communication skills; clinical research experience

Travel

Up to 70% travel expected

Base Pay Range:
