Director of Biostatistics

Location: India (Remote with potential travel to Mumbai office)

Position Overview:

As a Director of Biostatistics, you will be integral to our cross-functional teams, driving innovative clinical trial designs and statistical strategies that support regulatory approvals and market access.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Innovative Study Design:

    • Develop and oversee study designs that support regulatory approval, medical research, and market access.
    • Independently lead statistical support for compound development within therapeutic areas.
  • Team Leadership:

    • Provide guidance and management to statisticians to ensure high-quality, timely deliverables.
    • Engage as a scientific and strategic partner on high-level development teams.
  • Strategic Communication:

    • Present and defend complex statistical solutions to BMS governance, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
    • Contribute to Clinical Development Plans and lead submission activities, including post-submission strategies and defenses.
  • Statistical Expertise:

    • Address health authority requests and support publications, presentations, and public information releases.
    • Ensure compliance with BMS processes, global standards, and quality deliverables.
  • Training and Development:

    • Contribute to and provide training on statistical departmental SOPs.
    • Offer coaching to biostatistical team members, fostering a culture of inclusiveness and respect.
  • Budget and Resource Management:

    • Manage functional or project budgets, allocate resources, and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Industry Representation:

    • Represent BMS at professional societies and industry discussions.
    • Contribute to the statistical community of practice.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field with at least 9 years of experience, or an MS with 11 years of experience.
  • Proven expertise in scientific computing/programming (SAS, R, or Python) and advanced statistical analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in regulatory agency interactions and applying advanced statistical methodologies in clinical development.
  • At least 3 years of management experience is preferred for people manager positions.
