Optum (UnitedHealth Group) is seeking a Deputy Manager – Medical Coding in Chennai, Tamil Nadu to coordinate and supervise day‑to‑day coding operations. Key Responsibilities
Coordinate, supervise and be accountable for daily activities of the coding team.
Set task-level priorities, align resources, and ensure SLA/TAT, productivity, and quality targets are met.
Analyze and translate medical diagnoses/procedures to coding standards (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4, DRG) in line with client and regulatory guidelines.
Identify and resolve operational challenges using defined processes and sound judgment.
Enforce compliance with coding policies, HIPAA, and organizational SOPs.
Drive continuous improvement, participate in audits, and support corrective/preventive actions.
Prepare and review reports/metrics; escalate risks and propose mitigation plans.
Collaborate across functions (quality, training, operations) and support talent development and team engagement.
Contribute to short-term operational plans and ensure inspection/audit readiness.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: Graduate degree (life sciences/healthcare preferred, but JD allows “Graduate degree or equivalent experience”).
