Role Overview

The Manager, Business Intelligence leads a team of Commercial Analysts responsible for delivering high-quality reporting, dashboards, and data-driven insights. The role combines people leadership, advanced analytics, and cross-functional collaboration to support strategic business decision-making.

This position also focuses on process improvement, reporting standardization, and analytics governance to improve efficiency, consistency, and business impact.


Key Responsibilities

1. Business Intelligence & Analytics Delivery

  • Lead planning, prioritization, and execution of multiple analytics projects.

  • Deliver high-quality dashboards, reports, and analytical insights aligned with business priorities.

  • Translate ambiguous business questions into structured, data-driven solutions.

  • Perform hands-on analytical work when required, especially for complex problems.

  • Ensure outputs are actionable and aligned with business value creation.


2. Data Analysis & Visualization

  • Apply advanced data analysis techniques using tools such as:

    • Excel

    • Power BI

    • Tableau

  • Design clear, intuitive dashboards for both technical and non-technical users.

  • Communicate insights through executive-ready reports and summaries.

  • Ensure clarity in storytelling using data visualization techniques.


3. Data Quality, Governance & Standardization

  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of all reporting outputs.

  • Promote data governance standards and best practices.

  • Define and maintain consistent reporting metrics and business definitions.

  • Enforce documentation and standard operating procedures for analytics.


4. Process Improvement & Automation

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate reporting processes.

  • Reduce manual effort through scalable analytics solutions.

  • Improve efficiency and consistency in reporting workflows.

  • Continuously enhance analytics processes and team output.


5. Stakeholder Management & Business Partnership

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business needs.

  • Translate business requirements into analytical solutions.

  • Align analytics outputs with strategic business priorities.

  • Drive insights that support decision-making and measurable business outcomes.


6. Commercial & Business Insight

  • Apply understanding of:

    • Commercial operations

    • Market dynamics

    • CRO / life sciences business models

  • Use industry knowledge to support business decisions and analytics strategy.

  • Deliver insights that influence commercial performance and strategy.


7. Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Business Intelligence Analysts.

  • Build a high-performance, collaborative, and accountable team culture.

  • Provide clear direction and workload prioritization.

  • Support professional growth through mentoring and skill development.

  • Develop team capabilities in:

    • Data management

    • Analytics methodologies

    • Data storytelling

    • Business partnering


8. Strategic Execution & Impact

  • Align analytics initiatives with business priorities.

  • Ensure timely delivery of insights that drive measurable outcomes.

  • Monitor team performance and continuously improve effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following (Master’s preferred):

    • Data Science

    • Statistics

    • Computer Science

    • Business

    • Related field


Experience

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in analytics

  • Experience in commercial or sales analytics (preferably in CRO or life sciences industry)

  • Minimum 5+ years of leadership experience in Business Intelligence or analytics teams


Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in:

    • Python or R

    • SQL

    • BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire)

  • Advanced Excel skills:

    • Complex formulas

    • Power Query

    • Data modeling

    • Automation

  • Experience with CRM systems:

    • Salesforce or similar platforms

  • Strong ability in:

    • Data modeling

    • Scenario analysis

    • Business forecasting
