Coder Inpatient – Remote (Boca Raton, FL, United States)

Full-Time | Inpatient Medical Coding | Healthcare Documentation

Position Overview

Omega Healthcare is hiring a highly skilled Inpatient Coder with strong expertise in abstracting, interpreting, and coding complex clinical documentation. This role requires a minimum of three years of post-certification inpatient coding experience, along with mandatory exposure to eCAC systems and Cerner PowerChart. The position is fully remote and ideal for experienced coders seeking a stable and performance-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and accurately code inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, pro-fee, and clinical records.

  • Assign correct principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and DRG/APC codes with precise sequencing.

  • Apply advanced coding guidelines and reimbursement methodologies to ensure coding integrity.

  • Abstract, validate, and code medical data across multiple software systems, encoders, and client platforms.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards, including HIPAA and internal policies.

  • Extract relevant data from patient records for billing documentation and clinical reporting.

  • Enter coded data into various client-specific systems with accuracy and consistency.

  • Maintain productivity standards and document performance as required by client guidelines.

  • Achieve and sustain a minimum 95 percent quality rating.

  • Follow official coding guidelines established by AHIMA, AMA, CMS, and related regulatory bodies.


Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and clinical interpretation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Competence with computer applications, coding platforms, and medical documentation systems.

  • Ability to work independently within a remote environment while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.


Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of current post-certification experience in inpatient coding.

  • Mandatory experience with eCAC systems.

  • Mandatory hands-on experience with Cerner PowerChart.

  • Ability to train on MS4 and eCAC Abstracting tools as required.

  • Strong understanding of inpatient coding rules, DRG methodology, and clinical documentation improvement principles.


Mandatory Certifications

Applicants must hold one or more of the following credentials:

  • RHIA

  • RHIT

  • CCS

These certifications are required and must be active at the time of application.


Work Environment

  • Fully remote role
