Role Overview:

As a Clinical Research Scientist at Lilly, you will be a key player in advancing the company’s research efforts. This role involves supporting both pre- and post-launch activities, scientific data dissemination, clinical planning, and regulatory support. You will work with global and local teams to develop and implement medical strategies, participate in clinical trial planning and execution, and engage with external stakeholders to foster strong relationships with healthcare professionals and scientific experts.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Business/Customer Support (Pre- and Post-Launch Support):

  • Understand and anticipate the scientific information needs of customers (e.g., payers, patients, healthcare providers).
  • Address customer inquiries in a timely manner by leading data analyses and conducting clinical or health outcomes research.
  • Contribute to the development of medical strategies in collaboration with global teams to support brand commercialization activities.
  • Provide scientific expertise and support for payer partnership programs, business-to-business, and business-to-government activities.
  • Assist with promotional material development, providing scientific insights and reviews.

2. Scientific Data Dissemination/Exchange:

  • Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and global guidelines regarding data dissemination.
  • Address unsolicited scientific inquiries from healthcare professionals in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Support planning of scientific meetings, including symposia, advisory boards, and customer events.
  • Prepare and review scientific content for customer-facing materials and publications.
  • Foster relationships with external scientific experts and professional societies to support research and data dissemination.

3. Clinical Planning & Research Support:

  • Keep current on pre-clinical and clinical data relevant to Lilly’s products and therapeutic areas.
  • Represent local clinical needs and provide input to global teams on study protocols and clinical strategies.
  • Collaborate in the design, execution, and reporting of local clinical trials, ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practices (GCPs).
  • Participate in investigator identification, site selection, and clinical study initiation activities.
  • Monitor patient safety and adverse events throughout the trial process.

4. Regulatory Support Activities:

  • Provide medical expertise in the development and review of local product labels and regulatory submissions.
  • Support the preparation for regulatory agency discussions, advisory committees, and local registration efforts.
  • Participate in risk management and safety planning with the global team.
  • Stay informed of trends and projections in clinical practice and access relevant to the therapeutic areas.

5. Launch Readiness and Strategy:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for product launch preparation, ensuring medical strategies align with business and brand goals.
  • Support activities such as market insights, competitive analysis, and product positioning for successful launches.
  • Ensure readiness to address stakeholders' needs through targeted medical education and support activities.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, PhD, or related fields such as Pharmacology, Physiology, Microbiology).
  • 3-5 years of clinical or pharmaceutical experience, with at least 2 years in clinical development.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to engage in both domestic and international travel as required.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written, with excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in autoimmune diseases (particularly in rheumatology and dermatology) is preferred.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Demonstrated ability to balance scientific priorities with business objectives.
  • Experience in clinical research, trial execution, and regulatory support.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
