Role Overview
Pfizer seeks an Associate Publications Writer to support the Pfizer Biopharmaceuticals Group (PBG), CMAO-Global Medical Excellence & Innovation, and the Global Medical Affairs team. This role focuses on assisting with the development of scientific publications, congress materials, and medical affairs support while ensuring adherence to publication policies, timelines, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing abstracts, posters, manuscripts, congress presentations, and slide decks under the guidance of the Publications Writer.
  • Conduct data mining and quality control to ensure objective and accurate data representation in documents.
  • Adhere to publication and company policies in all deliverables.
  • Provide updates on project progress using trackers and presentations.
  • Train in preparing plain language summaries for manuscripts.
  • Support congresses with materials development and reporting.
  • Perform literature reviews, summaries, and create slide decks for Medical Affairs.
  • Ensure timely, budget-compliant delivery of activities while adhering to guidelines.

Skill Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Scientific Writing: Ability to interpret, summarize, and present complex data effectively.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in tools like OvidSP, PubMed, Medline, Embase, and Biosis. Capable of hypothesis formulation and data analysis.
  • Language Proficiency: High fluency in written English and strong spoken English.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and reference management tools like EndNote. Familiarity with freely accessible databases preferred.

Managerial and Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong organizational skills, confidentiality, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects within deadlines.
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills to guide document content strategy.
  • Collaborative engagement with Global, Regional, and Local Medical Affairs colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Education: Post-graduate or doctorate degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or Medical Sciences.
  • Experience:
    • 2–3 years for medical graduates or PhDs.
    • 3+ years for master's degree holders.
    • Experience in publication writing, medical communications, or CRO/Pharma/Biotech roles.
    • Familiarity with literature search tools and data analysis is preferred.
