Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati (UC), a leading public research university founded in 1819, is seeking a Division Director for the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy, and Immunology within the Department of Internal Medicine. The Division Director will lead the division in its clinical care, research, and educational missions while collaborating with faculty, staff, and academic leaders to further the growth and impact of the division. This individual will report directly to the Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine and oversee the division’s day-to-day operations and strategic development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a diverse clinical portfolio that includes consultative, procedural, and advanced care needs across a range of specialties.
  • Expand the division’s research efforts, including both clinical and basic science initiatives.
  • Develop strategies for optimal use of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and lead productivity and fiscal oversight efforts.
  • Set academic, clinical, and research goals for the division and work with faculty and staff to achieve them.
  • Participate in strategic development and leadership initiatives within the Department of Internal Medicine.
  • Recruit and mentor faculty and staff, and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Foster collaboration across departments and with external institutions to enhance interdisciplinary approaches.
  • Oversee divisional finances, ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficient resource allocation.
  • Promote new initiatives that could expand beyond the local campus or include virtual care (telemedicine).

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD, DO, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree.
  • Board certification in Rheumatology or Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.
  • Unrestricted Ohio Medical License.
  • At least 10 years of clinical experience with leadership and management experience in a medical facility.
  • Current faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • MBA or strong business acumen.
  • Proven success in leading interdisciplinary teams and fostering collaboration.
  • Experience in negotiation, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
