Associate Director - Medical Science Liaison (Oncology - GI/GU/Thoracic) – Southern California

Job Summary:

Lilly, a global pharmaceutical leader, is hiring an Associate Director - Medical Science Liaison (MSL) with a focus on Oncology (Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, Thoracic) to serve healthcare professionals across Southern California. In this field-based role, you’ll provide deep scientific expertise, support research and education, and strengthen oncology therapeutic strategies through impactful partnerships with external scientific experts. This is a full-time, on-site role requiring regional travel up to 70%.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Lilly’s primary scientific contact for external experts and healthcare professionals in oncology.

  • Provide up-to-date, accurate, and deep content knowledge on GI, GU, and Thoracic oncology therapeutic areas.

  • Engage in scientific exchange and facilitate relationships between Lilly and external scientific communities.

  • Communicate clinical insights and customer feedback to internal teams to inform research and strategy.

  • Participate in scientific conferences, conduct literature reviews, and maintain technical expertise.

  • Support field research and educational initiatives aligned with oncology development goals.

  • Manage territory activities across Southern California, including overnight travel and occasional weekend work.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD) in health sciences with 2–3 years of relevant oncology or clinical experience
    OR
    Bachelor's or Master's in health sciences with 5+ years of oncology-related clinical or medical experience

  • Valid U.S. driver's license with acceptable driving record

  • Strong scientific acumen in GI/GU/Thoracic oncology

  • Familiarity with academic research and medical education environments

  • Proven ability to handle complex information and communicate clearly with stakeholders

  • Self-management, prioritization, and field-based work experience

  • Advanced skills in presentation, literature evaluation, and professional networking

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (No visa sponsorship available)
